Breaking News: Jennifer Aniston has new hair
Wed, 23 February 2011 11:01AM
And by new hair, I actually mean a hot new Lob and striking new colour. Hooray! It’s a day I have been dreaming about for years, Primpers. The day I walk into work and discover Jennifer Aniston has cut and coloured her hair. It’s only taken the lovely little Jen about ten years, but hey, it was worth the wait.
Here’s her sexy new haircut and colour…
Following the likes of Olivia Palermo, Chloe Sevigny, January Jones and, erm, myself, Jen has chopped her hair into one of the most popular styles of the season – the Lob. So popular is this sexy little shag, that we’ve dedicated an entire story to it in our upcoming Look Book, which will be hitting David Jones stores nationally on the 1st of March. Weee!
But back to Jen and her breaking news, which was revealed at the premiere of her new movie ‘Just Go With It’ featuring funny man Adam Sandler while in Madrid. Gosh I love it when celebs have new movies out, it’s the perfect opportunity for them to make a statement with fresh new looks and generally awesome changes. Like Jen here.
I have to say, Primpers, I absolutely love this look on Jen. Maybe it’s because it looks great, or maybe it’s because it’s different and even if it didn’t look great I’d still be applauding her for mixing things up a bit. Either way, I think it’s glorious. Absolutely glorious.
The collarbone-skimming length is super flattering on everyone. Plus, I like that she’s taken the colour a lot lighter, Primpers – it suits her skintone. And, here’s the beauty of the Lob, it’s a universally flattering hairstyle that will suit you, and you and yes, even YOU. Plus, it’s much easier to style than anything longer, yet due to its ability to be tied back, bad hair days can be disguised with an updo if need be. Winner!
If you too are wanting to crawl out of your Jeniston rut, may I suggest recreating this hairstyle by following a few of these handy tips provided by Sydney-based hairstylist, Barney Martin…
1. Chat to your hairstylist about the right length for you. In Jen’s case, it sits just above her shoulders almost skimming her collar-bone, but if you want to show off your neck a little more, take the length up just a tad.
2. Fine haired Primpers be warned, you don’t want to create too many layers as it will make styling you Lob harder. Instead, tell your stylist to give you longer layers that will soften the ends.
3. If, like me, you have wavy hair, keep the layers longer so they weigh the hair down, rather than make it go ‘out’.
4. Fringe lovers, you should stick to a choppy number that skims your brow, rather than anything too harsh or blunt.
Well Jen, high five to you! You made the change we’ve all be begging for and it looks splendid. Absolutely splendid. Don’t you think, Primpers?
Tell me…
What do you think of Jen’s new hair?
Do you like it?
Do you want to get it?
Do you think it will take off like ‘The Rachel’?

This haircut makes her look a bit like Barbara Streisand…

Not really a fan of the new colour..

I hate it! Colour is so brassy looking at the roots. I saw her on The View a couple of weeks ago and was thinking how great she looked with her long sleek hair and was loving her colour then too. Bet she goes back to her old style asap. I think sometimes if you know a cut/colour look great on you then you should stick with it!

I like it! She looks gorgeous as always! I had a ‘Lob’ a year and a half ago and i loved it but i missed my long hair. Love the style though, its so classy and chic.

Not really a fan of the colour, to be honest. I think it’s a bit coppery. Love the cut though.

Not her best look.
Posted by: Adele // Wed, 23 February 2011 11:53am
I actually surprised myself by my reaction of “uurh!” It looks horrible, she looks like Streisand and therefore ages her. I dont think this suits her at all.
Posted by: Kiki // Wed, 23 February 2011 12:04pm
I like the hairstyle just not on her. I think she looks much older and the colour is too harsh for her age. She should stick with what looks good
Posted by: Mysie Enthusiast // Wed, 23 February 2011 12:08pm
Initially I looked at the picture and hated Jen’s new hair – why?? I don’t think the brassy color suits her complexion but then I thought in a different light situation it may look better – I think maybe because she’s had the same hair for so long the new ‘do will take some time to get used to.
Posted by: Nicole // Wed, 23 February 2011 12:11pm
Wow this completely washes her out – she always looked so tan!
Posted by: donnam // Wed, 23 February 2011 12:21pm
I like the cut – hate the colour. It looks really fake. It was a beautiful colour before…….

cut = gorgeous. colour = fug.
I think that blonde is too light and yellow for her; much prefer the honey blonde tones on her.

I like it, its a perfect change from her long long locks. I love the style and its about time she had a bit more grown up hair. I love the colour too and brings out the lovely colour of her eyes. I am inspired to do the same to my hair after years of having very very long red hair. I just need to know the exact shade to tell my hairdresser!

No its too bottle blonde looking, not a fan of this barbie type look Jen, catch you later, way too fake
Posted by: Nicole // Wed, 23 February 2011 01:01pm
I think it makes her look a lot older!
Posted by: xKMS Master Fan // Wed, 23 February 2011 01:04pm
i think her face looks younger, but the colour doesn’t suit her.. would look better with some low lights.. but also i recon itll look better in less harsh lighting and after a couple of washes, and when the roots start getting a bit darker. but i really like the cut!! am considering copying it!!! i neeeeeeeeed a change!!!
Posted by: amy1 Enthusiast // Wed, 23 February 2011 01:06pm
hmm…..not sure, may hold onto my verdict until i see i different pic – don’t know if that one is the most flattering / shows off her new do in the best way possible. (she’s always gorgeous though, regardless)

Love the cut, hate the colour. On one hand its nice to see her experimenting with her look, on the other, perhaps she’s stck to the same look for so long because it works.

New look book? Does this mean another look book event?!
As for the new hair cut, love the length, not a fan of the colour.
Posted by: Beatrice // Wed, 23 February 2011 01:30pm
Too blonde methinks. I think her biggest mistake though is the eyeliner.
Posted by: Kay // Wed, 23 February 2011 01:36pm
The colour makes her look older! Definitely
not Jen’s colour. Love the length of the cut
though even though it ain’t bringing Brad
back

She looks great, and it makes me lust after a Lob!
Posted by: beautybee1 Master Fan // Wed, 23 February 2011 02:00pm
Not sure – maybe it’s the lighting or a bad angle or her makeup is a bit pasty but I don’t think this is her best look reallly.
Posted by: Julieow Master Fan // Wed, 23 February 2011 02:50pm
Agree re the colour her colour is usually TDF, but am liking the lob- Go Jen!
Posted by: laura_ Devotee // Wed, 23 February 2011 03:12pm
That colour is terrible! I just got a lob recently and I’m already missing my long hair
Posted by: Elayne Enthusiast // Wed, 23 February 2011 04:00pm
That is the LAST time I chat to Jen about cutting my hair – she stole my style! This is what I’m planning, but can’t decide whether to have a fringe to go with it. Thanks for the tips, Yaz!

I think as women get older they need to keep their hair shorter, just like this. Going lighter is also smart if you have greys, and it brightens up your skin tone.
However, I’d like to see another photo of Jen’s new hair because I don’t think this pic is very flattering.
I think she needs to give her hair a few more washes and adjust her make-up a little to make her new style look more natural and ‘worn in’.
Posted by: Danni Master Fan // Wed, 23 February 2011 04:01pm
I am so glad she’s changed it and the cut is brilliant but the colour really isn’t that great. Her pinky skin (might just be the photo?) really doesn’t suit the blonde.
Posted by: beccertron Enthusiast // Wed, 23 February 2011 04:04pm
Um, I feel like this transformation is just a distraction so no one realises her fresh and youthful look is actually a result from a face full of fillers… who am I? Perez?
Posted by: samuel Devotee // Wed, 23 February 2011 05:05pm
The Lob looks suits her it more the colouring, not her natural style but hey you got try something new!
Posted by: NatMon Master Fan // Wed, 23 February 2011 06:22pm
I really like the cut but agree the colour isn’t the best.
Posted by: Ellen // Wed, 23 February 2011 06:28pm
Just like Abbey Lee – I’m not convinced it’s the greatest colour for her – but I do like it. Hooray for making a change! I think we were all a little over the ‘Rachael’.
Posted by: MonteCat Newbie // Wed, 23 February 2011 06:54pm
Yuk! The colour is wrong. This look is very aging.
Posted by: MayaS Master Fan // Wed, 23 February 2011 07:31pm
I think she looks about 25 here! Love the lob but I agree with a lot of the other primpers- this colour is a bit yuck.

i like the cut but dont really like the colour.. it washes her out… i agree with Steph, it does make her look a bit like Streisand!

I think she looks good. Not overly fond of the colour

I heard about this on the radio and was so keen to see!
Someone was saying its too blonde but i disagree, i take on the change!
Posted by: CaseyJai Enthusiast // Thu, 24 February 2011 07:19am
Love the cut, not really feeling the colour.. Its not normal seeing her with that colour. Think of getting the Lob cut myself. Its pretty cute.
Posted by: kristinkate Devotee // Thu, 24 February 2011 10:50am
I didn’t think Jen could put a beauty foot wrong, but I think this picture says otherwise. I’m not a fan of the colour at all…too yellow and fake looking. Don’t think the cut does a lot for her either.
Posted by: ladybec Master Fan // Thu, 24 February 2011 11:16am
I agree with other posters. I think this looks ages her. Not a huge fan of the colour, but could get used to the cut. I think she had great hair before and hey if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
Posted by: Emmie // Thu, 24 February 2011 11:16am
Found this link of Jen’s hair – i think the above is just a bad shot with very bad lighting.

she looks really beautiful in this pic.

I love my long hair but you’ve nearly sold me on the lob!
Posted by: kelkel Enthusiast // Thu, 24 February 2011 02:12pm
I always loved the Rachel, but I don’t mind this colour on Jen. I’m not a big fan of the style though – I know it’s trendy and all, but I think it’s a bit boring and middle-aged-woman-ish!
Posted by: B // Thu, 24 February 2011 02:14pm
I like the length – but really don’t like the colour!
Posted by: sabina griffiths // Thu, 24 February 2011 02:45pm
love the cut, but not really the colour. and I think it would look better with a fringe

Like the cut, don’t like the colour
Posted by: laurenb Enthusiast // Thu, 24 February 2011 05:59pm
Really don’t like the colour… however, I do love Jen so I’ll reserve final judgement til I see a photo without the potentially harsh overhead lighting that appears to be affecting the look of the colour.
Jen’s signature look is awesome, although good on her for trying something daring and new.

WOWZA, so surprising! So surprisingly good too!
Should’ve done it years ago.
Posted by: goddessmagick Enthusiast // Fri, 25 February 2011 02:55am
I don’t mind her lob, makes her more mature in appearance which is really where she is at in life now. Nothing worse than celebs trying to hold onto the youthful look when its time they matured. It could take off like the Rachel especially if everyone that loved that look in the 90′s are similar age to Jen as this would suit them too!
Posted by: bluebird Master Fan // Fri, 25 February 2011 11:22am
I think its great Jens being adventurous but I think its a tad too light a blonde. Like the lob on most people..wish my hair was less wavy and I’d try it too
Posted by: candyapple Enthusiast // Fri, 25 February 2011 12:43pm
I agree with everyone else:
cut = good
colour = bad
On someone else this would probably look great, but on her it makes her complexion look more red/uneven than I had ever noticed when she had brown hair.
Change is good… the cut would have been enough though, coz her colour before was a winner.
Posted by: marymarycontrary Supporter // Fri, 25 February 2011 04:18pm
This is just a bad photo with strange lighting, just saw pics on getty and just jared and her hair colour is almost the same as when it was long. honey, caramel streaked.

wow; excitement at seeing her with a new haircut. this is an epic life change for her!!
Posted by: Gail Miles // Sun, 27 February 2011 07:20pm
Dont like the colour at all looks cheap and brassy. Loved the “old” colour she had! The cut is ok for a change. lets hope she goes back to her “old ” colour again real soon.

Yay for change! I love the cut. I think the colouring looks off because of the harsh lighting

I’m so sorry, but I really don’t like this! The colour is far too harsh, and the cut doesn’t suit her age, I don’t think.

Looove the lob & Love Jen’s hair!!!!!!
I think I might head in the direction of a lob. I’ve been trying to grow my hair for a long time now and it’s just not happening. I have grown tired of my current ‘do though, so I think a lob might be the way to go.
Although, I have naturally wavy & fine hair, plus require a fringe due to my face shape. So we’ll see what my hair stylist thinks!
