Five Crazy Cool Spring Lipstick Shades To Pull Out Now
Tue, 28 August 2012 10:12AM
Hi, I’m Yaz and I’m a lipstick-a-holic. I also happen to be covering for the lovely Hayley for the next three weeks, while she tests out her best summer hairstyles in Europe. Lucky thing.
If you’re new to PRIMPED you might have seen one of my Friday videos, but for all you old time Primpers, it’s good to be back in the hot seat. I can’t wait to be reacquainted with you all over the coming weeks.
To kick off the festivities let’s celebrate this warmer weather and take a look at five of the best lipstick shades (and formulas) for spring. This season, bright shades reign supreme yet again, with fun hints of metallic shimmer shimmying their way into the limelight. Not into shimmer? Creamy formulas with a sheer finish are also on the ‘must-try’ list. Whatever formula you go for, make it bright, bold and brilliantly fun.
Here are my top five picks…

From Left to Right: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti, $21.95; Kit Lipstick in Party Fever, $24.95; L’Oreal Infallible Lipstick in Forever Fuschia, $24.95; Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Color in Peachy Scene, $16.95; Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Sweetheart, $14.95.
1. The Perfect Sheer Orange: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti, $21.95
For a creamy, comfortable wash of colour on your lips you can’t go past this flawless option. Sending shock waves through the bloggersphere, this balm-come-stick is a spring makeup essential.
2. The Perfect ‘Hint of Shimmer’: Kit Lipstick in Party Fever, $24.95
If you want to touch on the shimmer trend but aren’t sure you can pull it off (trust me: you can), try this creamy formula with just a hint of radiance. This subtle version is the perfect way to test out the trend, plus the pretty red/orange colour is a winner on the shade front, too.
3. The Perfect Long-Laster: L’Oreal Infallible Lipstick in Forever Fuschia, $24.95
On the hunt for something long-lasting? I don’t blame you. Keep touch-ups to a minimum with this stay-put formula that lasts up to 10 hours. Yep, 10 hours. Unlike other long-lasting lipsticks, this option has Vitamin E to nourish lips and bold, vibrant pigments to keep your colour bold and always bright.
4. The Perfect Pearl: Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Color in Peachy Scene, $16.95
It’s no secret peach lipstick shades have overtaken pink in the colour stakes. They really are everywhere right now and this pinky/peach hue means business. Packed with ingredients like honey, Vitamin E and emollient waxes, this lipstick even has its own ‘polymer seal’ – a sciency word for creamy, rich colour that gives your lips more dimension – plus the shade looks good on most skin types. I’m sold!
5. The Perfect Shimmer: Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Sweetheart, $14.95
For all you Primpers wanting to embrace shimmer lipstick with aplomb, this one’s for you. This formula is the ultimate shimmer lipstick, leaving your lips looking radiant, luminous and oh-so-cool. I’m also in love with the soft pink colour for a girly finish that’s perfect for spring.
Tell me Primpers…
What are your top lipstick picks for spring?
Any of these take your fancy?

I reeeeally want to try the Revlon Lip Butters.
I quite enjoy the Rimmel Kate Moss lasting finish lipsticks. I have one in a peachy/orange colour and it really does last!! Good colour too – I think it’s a spring shade for sure.
I’ve never really been a “shimmer” kind of girl but who knows? Maybe I’ll give it a whirl soon.

Look forward to reading more posts from you Yaz! Btw, you calling me an old timer?
I have a couple of lipbutters, also have rimmel Kate Moss one and they do last and have a nice finish!!!

I love my lip butters, and also can’t wait for the lip stain balms to be released here!

Haha! Louweeez, your presence on PRIMPED has been noted and appreciated for YEARS. So yes, when it comes to long-standing fans of the site, you’re definitely an ‘old timer’. Of course, your skin would never suggest such a thing though

Another vote for the Kate Moss lipsticks! Not a bit lipstick fan but they feel great! I’m actually less fond of the lip butters, they seem drying on me?

I would to try all five of the colors. Is so hard just to pick one. I love buying lipstick and trying out different color.
Can wait to check it out.
Thanks Yas

Hi Yaz, this is off topic, but could you let me know what foundation or highlighter you use to get that dewy glorious skin you have in every single video? Or have you ever done a blog post on this? If so, can someone please link me to it?? PLEEEEASE

Hi Person, what a lovely thing to say. I will absolutely do another post on my skin/makeup ritual just for you. In the meantime, here’s an old one I did some time ago. Some things have changed but the crux remains the same. Yx http://primped.ninemsn.com.au/blogs/beauty-duty/skincare-secrets-i-probably-should-have-shared-years-ago

Thank you so much Yaz.
By the way, after I posted, I searched your blog relentlessly and found that you recommend to mix Laura Mercier Illuminating moisturizer into foundation…
Am just back from the mall, got this TM with my Eid gift money.. thank you again. Looking forward to sporting the Yaz-patented glow.

they all look great to me, but I have sooo many lipsticks – mainly due to my never-ending search for the perfect “MLBB” shade.

I LOVE the Laura Tinted Moisturise – Illuminating. It’s serious ‘glow-getting’. So glad you bought it, let me know what you think. Oh, and Julieow, the Maybellines are so good, aren’t they. Good to be back, Primpers. Yx

the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti is great, but it’s not a strong colour.
