Lady GaGa’s hair not so originally nuts after all

Lady GaGa’s crazy (but pretty damn cool) bow hairstyle in her Poker Face video clip was, what I thought, one seriously original hairstyle. Until I remembered the hair at Gianfranco Ferre’s Spring/Summer 09 show and thought, ‘hold the phone, that’s (almost) exactly the same thing – only one month later.’ See…

Obviously she’s taken it one step further, with the nuts white wig, full fringe and stiff finish bow, rather than the floppy, more natural one at Ferre. Personally, I much prefer the natural one, I think all that hair left down and the big stiff bow on top is way too much. And as a fellow fringe follower, don’t even get me started on that, it’s far too flat ironed and perfect.

What I love about the Ferre look is that surprisingly, it’s pretty wearable. Carl Reeves from Mieka Hairdressing in Melbourne agrees, telling me that all you need to do to get this look is pop your hair in a tight ponytail at the top of your head and then literally tie it in a bow, like you would your shoe laces. Once you’ve created your bow, wrap the ends around the middle and pin in place before setting with Redken Vinyl Glam 02, $27, for added shine and Redken Workforce 09 Volumizing Spray, $23.50, for a light hold that’s not too stiff.

I’m going to try pulling this one off but it’s going to have to wait. I just got my hair chemically straightened and am not allowed to get it wet, tuck it behind my ears or even touch it for another day, but more on that later. For now, you’ll just have to try it out for me.

    Gaga said her hairbow was inspired by that look. She’s not really copying it.

    Plus it’s not a wig, it’s her REAL HAIR. People have tried to pull it out when she crows surfs and failed. She’s said it before too that it’s all real.

    You’re kidding right? There is no way that hair is real! Some of it might be hers but you can bet there is a lot of extensions and whatnot in there. The weird shape of the fringe and the bow not matching the rest of the hair kind of gives it away.

    lady gaga isn’t trying to claim that hairstyle as her own… she says so in a video on her website that she saw it in the fashion show and thought it was cute… so she made her own version of it!

    Lady GaGas hair is real! she has had enough going on about her hair! i love it and she is lucky that she has such nice hair and anybody who thinks otherwise is jealous! I LOVE LADY GAGA!

    Her hair is real and not a wig- also before hammering her about her hair being to flat ironed and perfect has it ever occurred to you that she might just have straight hair? my hair is has been and is long and bleach blond with long bangs just like hers and poker straight – on its own.

    she was on the johnathon ross show a few nights ago & had a short bob, i also read in a mag that she sed they wud be taking her extensions out for a photo shoot…so i think its not her real hair in the bow,it just looks 2 god damn perfect,im not knocking her tho she is way cool

    her hair IS a wig, if you look closely at her pokerface video when she is in the blue bodysuit thing she throws her head back while dancing and you can see the wig bieng pulled back, she can’t just magically go from having a bob one day to having waist length hair whenever she wants
