SAG Awards: Mad About Mad Men

You’ve gotta love the Mad Men duo of Christina Hendricks and January Jones, don’t you Primpers? They’re both so sizzly in their own special way, and today, at the SAG Awards, they hurled themselves into sexy-land with their individual looks. Let’s take a look…

First up we have CHRISTINA HENDRICKS and her flaming hair…

Goodness me she has some fine mammeries, doesn’t she Primpers. Seriously, as a woman you have to admire those puppies and think to yourself for just one second ‘how do they look like that?’ before looking down at your chest for a quick comparison, and then working your eyes back up to the hair and makeup. What’s that? You don’t do that? Ahem, me either.

So, let’s shuffle back to the hair and makeup before I completely loose myself to SAG Awards tomfoolery. I am loving this look on Christina – the dark smouldering eye that we’ve already spotted on old mate Mila Kunis and Dianna Agron is also working its magic on Christina here. Proof to women over 35 that you can, in fact, work a smoky eye into your repertoire without looking like mutton. Or lamb. Or whatever that silly saying is.

She’s kept the look age appropriate by sticking to a lovely shade of lipstick that’s not too out there, but perfectly complementary to her red hair and peach blush. Had she gone for a wacky tangerine lipstick the case may be different, but she knows her shiz and looks all the more amazing for it. The hair is also classic with her perfect blow-dry and gently curled ends. Perfection Christina. Bravo!

Next up we have JANUARY JONES and her fun flippy hair and metallic gold eye shadow…

This is one of those hairstyles that could, potentially, go either way. It’s a risk, which I enjoy (Kim Kardashian take note, today’s look is a welcome change) and for that I have to high five January. It’s a fun flippy little number and if you’re unsure of it from the front, trust me when I say it looks super cute from the side.

It’s her makeup, however, that makes me smile almost as much as she is. I love the way her black and gold eye makeup reflects the black and gold in her insanely beautiful dress. There’s some debate about whether to match your makeup to your dress, but I say, stick it to the ‘rules’ and do whatever you feel like. If that means matching, like January here, then hats off to you sister.

Aha, fun yes? I often work a gold shimmery makeup into the corners of my eyes and pair it with a black smoky number on the rest of the lid. It’s very effective. Add the coral undertones in the cheek and lip colours and you have yourself one seriously winning look. I love January, and I love this look on her. Top marks.
