Video: The Weekly Brush Up
Fri, 27 April 2012 9:01AM
Want to brush up on some of this week’s biggest, best, and most useful beauty news? Then you’ve come to the right place, Primpers. I’ve changed the format of my ‘Five Things‘ videos to include beauty news, tips and tricks I’ve learned throughout the week, celeb looks, and of course, the latest products to hit the shelves.
To kick things off, I take a look at the new Clinique Even Better Concealer, $40; talk about two new beauty oils (one by Thalgo, one by The Body Shop) that will help your skin, hair, and body in more ways than you can imagine; and let you in on a skincare secret I learned from the experts at Dr. Spiller. And finally, I urge you to get involved in a game of celebrity face-off where you choose which celeb looks her finest – this week, it’s Rihanna going head-to-head with Tyra. Who will win? You tell me.
Here’s the video…
And here are the girls…

And the close up..

And now… TYRA!

And the close up…

Tell me Primpers…
What look do you prefer? Tyra or Rihanna. I’m going to have to go with Rihanna.
What about the new products? Anything you like there?
And finally, what about the beauty tip. Will it make you reconsider what you’re putting on your skin?

I have to wait till I’m home to watch the video, interested to hear what you say about the clinique concealer, I already use the even better foundation which I love… I struggle with concealers nothing seems to blend right and I’ve tried ALOT, not even YSL.te works for me…
Tyra, the dress is more sleek plus her smile is bigger… Rihanna’s dress looks too pouffy, she looks awkard and uncomfortable, like Kristen Stewart always does….

I prefer Rihanna…Tyra looks a bit Cruella de Vil for some reason! I think her pose isn’t doing her any favours either!

I prefer Rhianna’s look to Tyra’s, hers seems a little edgier or something.
Very interesting to learn about our skin and that oil is better for absorption than oil based products. Thalgo products are one of my faves.
Great wrap up for the week, well done.

Rihanna – Tyra just scares me! Am all about ze oils too right now, hair oil, body oil, Kiehls Midnight Recovery oil, coconut oil hair masks, flaxseed oil on anything savory I eat – I’ve even started back on Evening Primrose oil to get my glow on for planned hols home in July – phew

Maybe it’s Rihanna’s static pose but I’m not liking this look on her completely. Not sure about the russet lipstick-magenta dress match either. If I just compare Tyra and Rihanna’s makeup – I prefer Tyra’s but I don’t think that dress is doing her any favours.

Can’t wait to try the body shop oil and I think Rihanna definitely looks the best. I’m trying out some hair oil myself which smells absolutely devine! Face serums are big on my radar too at the moment and also BB cream.

Dress-wise I’m going with Rihanna as her dress suits her better than does Tyra. Hair-wise I love Tyra’s full volume curls and makeup-wide I like Rihanna’s look as the dark lips match her overall look.

I actually think they both look great. And regardless, that pink dress looks great because of their skin colour. I’d look like Miss Piggy!
