Olympics 2012: And the Silver Beauty Medals go to …
Sun, 5 August 2012 9:00AM
Early this week, the PRIMPED team awarded some of their favourite beauty buys with bronze medals. Today it’s time to reveal our silver-winning wonders.
Stand up to the podium please ….
Kat: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, from $7.60, from pharmacies
“A dermatoligist got me onto this when I was 16. I will be forever grateful. My skin has gone through many stages and stresses since then (from toxic relationships to overly agressive treatments), but this cleanser has stayed constant, consistent and, above all, caring. I love that it helps to keep my skin in check no matter what else I am doing to it. I love its light but creamy formulation. I love how it does the job just-right – never under- or over-cleansing. Oh and I love the cheap-as-chips price too.”
Hayley: shu uemura Classic High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil, $52, from select David Jones
“I fell in love with this product around two years ago and it has been a permanent fixture in my skincare regime ever since. I use it at the end of the day as not only does it dissolve makeup, it breaks down any grime and excess oil on the surface. I love the way my skin feels afterwards – super-soft and thoroughly clean, creating the perfect base for my serum and moisturiser to sink right in.”
Yaz: Nude Skincare Replenishing Night Oil, $96, Mecca Cosmetica
“Why? Of all the skincare products I’ve tried, nothing gets me glowing quite like this does. Packed with all the good stuff like omegas and antioxidants, it’s so good, I’m tempted to eat it.”
ECB: Elizabeth Arden Eight Cream Skin Protectant, $38, from department stores
“Another gift from the beauty Gods, and a constant in my life. I feel lost without it. Anxiety hits if I can’t fossick for it in record time at the bottom of my bag or the back of my beauty cupboard. But like any good sport, each day it strives to salve any nasty dry bits on my lips and cuticles or simply add some razzle-dazzle to my eyelids. “
Emily: Dermalogica Ultra Calming Cleanser, $53, 1800 659 118
“I have been using this forever and go through bottles of the stuff. A few years back it was tweaked and repackaged and it’s better than ever. I’m so obsessed I normally have one on the go and one lying in wait so I never have to miss a day when I reach the bottom of a bottle. I even decant it into little jars when I travel. It’s funny, really, because it’s not fancy and it doesn’t promise the world. But it’s gentle and soothing on worn-out, sensitive skin and removes makeup, too.”
Stay Tuned! We’ll be posting details of our gold medal winners next week…
