5 Celebs that give porcelain skin a great name

Fri, 11 November 2011 4:45PM

Perfect skin is important to most girls. It means we can wear less makeup (if we wanted to that is) and look all glowy and gorgeous and such. And who tends to have the most perfect complexion of them all? Our porcelain skinned friends.

The buzz around Twilight’s next movie The Twilight Sage: Breaking Dawn (Part 1) is growing as the six-day countdown begins (and that amazing moment when Sydney-girl Isabella won $1million yesterday during a promotion with Twilight on Kyle & Jackie-O’s radio show has us all talking, too. Did you see it? Amazing, heart-warming stuff). What does all this have to do with great skin? Well, porcelain complexions are a vampire’s best friend and it’s got us in the mood to chat about it.

Here are some celebs who I think give fair complexions a great name:

Team Blonde: Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried

Team Brunette: Ashley Greene

Ashley Greene

Team Red: Emma Stone

Emma Stone

Team Black: Katy Perry

Katy Perry

Team Grey: Kelly Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne

OK, so rarely does someone this young have a full head of grey hair but the girl kinda pulls it off, don’t you think?

Still not convinced that milky complexions are all that? Fine, I’ve got a closing argument that I think will sway you…

Here’s some final shots to remind you that staying out in the sun for too long is B.A.D. So very bad.

Lindsay Lohan & Tara Reid

Convinced yet?

Who’s your favourite porcelain skinned celebs?

Rose McGowan, just so elegant and beautiful.

  • Posted by: Adelaide // Fri, 11 November 2011 05:51pm

actually, lindsay has freckles, that’s not sun damage. and tara reid is pretty much explained when you imagine a different lip colour and filled-in eyebrows. do you think you need to put down those two in order to make the others appear prettier?

I love Ashley Greene and Emma Stone as well as Anne Hathaway, they all have gorgeous porcelain skin!!
Lindsay and Tara are more fake-tanned bad than sun damaged I think..

I have natural olive skin and this gallery just makes me jealous of all this lovely ladies and a little sad I don’t have their alabaster complexions =(

Amanda is my favourite, i think she is beautiful.

I don’t think any complexion is better than any other. Laura-1300235498, some days I would just kill for a glowy, olive complexion (particularly now, coming into summer) so I don’t have to fiddle around with bronzer this and illuminator that. I think what we can take away from the pictures of Lindsay Lohan and Tara Reid is that hard partying and heavy drinking can take its toll on ANY skin type and not just pale complexions, which primped appears to be promoting at this point, rather than actual skin care advice and products we can use to protect all of our skins.

I agree with Sarah’s comments in regards to Laura.

It seems girls (& guys) tend to want the complexion they don’t have.

Love your skin and look after it well. Thats what really makes a difference, not a fake tan (or bleached skin!).

totally convinced by the last two shots that porcelain should be celebrated!!

Emma Stone is gorgeous as always! :)

How could you forget Evan Rachel Wood or Cate Blanchett. Both have the most amazing, clear and glowy skin.

  • Posted by: Maddie // Sun, 13 November 2011 04:56pm

But they all have tans or bronzer on though. LOL. Kristen Stewart, Bryce Dallas Howard, Anne Hathaway, Dakota Fanning, and Evan Rachel Wood all have fairer skin. Just sayin.

@zoeeangelaa have you seen rose mcgowans plastic surgery? Not so elegant anymore…

  • Posted by: beautybee1 Master Fan // Sun, 13 November 2011 05:08pm

Cate Blanchett has amazing pale skin and so does Nicole Kidman. I think they were a little harsh on Julianne Moore in the “More Sun Damaged Celebs” slideshow – she has great skin for her age.

  • Posted by: Glush // Sun, 13 November 2011 05:34pm

I’m really not enjoying all the posts on “porcelain skin”. As a girl who has naturally olive skin, I’m slightly offended by this whole “trend’. I agree with what some other girls said – I don’t think any skin tone is better than another, and it’s not something you can change. Beauty should be about embracing what you’ve been given. Furthermore, pretty sure Lindsay’s face is just naturally freckled, and she’s partied a bit too hard. I’m disappointed that Primped not only puts down other women, but is pretty much advocating “white is right”.

  • Posted by: ABC // Sun, 13 November 2011 08:50pm

Glush, I really think that’s a little over the top. Coming into summer, and for 80% of the rest of the year, it’s ALL about the bronze. The fake tan posts, the “how to apply bronzer” posts and how to look all bronzed and glowy & beachy & Jennifer Lopez-ey. As a fair girl, who refuses to tan, I applaud primped for recognizing the fair girls..

And if you look at the pictures above, I am fairly sure that Katy Perry, Ashley Greene & Kelly Osbourne have some sort of tanner or darker body makeup on, than their natural skin tone – so still some way to go…

But in response to the actual question posed by Primped: Dita Von teese, Christina Hendricks & Cate Blanchett!

So nice to see fair skinned ladies being celebrated, so often we’re being told to tan up… These women are gorgeous, but I have to agree with other posters – Where’s Cate Blancett? She has the most perfect skin, total envy…This post, and other fair skinned posts, is making me feel a lot better about my fair skin thanks Primped :)

  • Posted by: Julieow Master Fan // Mon, 14 November 2011 11:23am

I don’t think Katy Perry lets her porcelain beauty shine through- she’s always rather caked, the others while made-up seem more natural and true to their tone.

    Lindsay, Lindsay, Lindsay………?????

  • Posted by: VivaLaVicki Master Fan // Mon, 14 November 2011 12:14pm

To say that Primped is advocating a “white is right” ideal is completely absurd Glush. They are simply doing a feature for girls that do have it, who should let it shine, not plaster it under fake tan. I don’t see them telling us to slather on the bleaching lotions. I have naturally olive skin and I’m not offended in the slightest.

Great article and some gorgeous girls flaunting their pale skin! I would have to say Amanda and Emma are my favourites here.

I’m also a little shocked that people are taking offence to this article – it’s just celebrating celebs who are embracing their pale skin tone? Considering the steady incline of fake tanning products etc on the market since the early 90′s (??) – it’s been a long time since fair skin was publicly and appreciated on a mass basis! I’ve spent my entire life being envious of olive skinned girls (and still am!) so it’s nice to have some pale skinned girls to look up to!

The slide show I do think was a bit harsh however – I certainly can’t see how Rachel Bilson is sun damaged, and Julianne Moore looks spectacular for her age! If she had not sun-protected her skin growing up – there is no way she would look as fantastic as she does now.

I’m also adding another fave pale skinned girl to the list – Sophia Bush :)

I love Evan Rachel Wood and Dita Von Teese for their beautiful skin. I have fair skin but mine never looks this peaches and cream. It always looks transparent and veiny. As for all the hoo ha about this being prejudiced against non-fair skinned girls. I think this is just an article about an alternative to the upcoming Summer months where the usual trend is bronzer, fake tan and more bronzer. I dont this was advocating in any way “white is right” or any other meanings along those lines. It is an article about coming out of the Winter/Spring months and embracing what you have rather than enhancing or faking what you dont.

I think Amanda Seyfried is gorgeous, she’s so pretty and porcelain.
I also think the pics of Linds and Tara are too much fake tan, those two always seem to abuse that stuff…gross!!

Getting kind of sick of all the porcelain posts at the moment…. how about something universal so that all women can enjoy the posts hey?
Primped kinda losing it’s shine now that Zoe and Cherie have gone.

Anne Hathaway should’ve been in this list, not Katy Perry!

I have very fair skin and the big problem is that unless you’re blessed in the genes department, every flaw is easily visible. :-( I actually wish I was a bit more olive but I would never go tanning to achieve it.

Dita Von Teese. With that raven hair, stunning grey/blue eyes and red lippie she’s a dream with her flawless porcelain complexion. Love her heaps!

Kate Perry as she is so young!

I have pale skin and I remember when the only “acceptable” skin tone was tan or fake tan orange urgh! So glad I never follow trends. It’s funny how pale skin is the trend now, cos of Twilight. I’ve always loved pale skin, no need for fake tan or bronzer, saves so much time! And always wear sunscreen and stay out of the sun no matter what colour complexion you have! The only downfall of pale skin is that any skin imperfections show up more, so you have to take good care of it and use the right products :)

I absolutely love a porcelain complexion. I like Ashley Greene and Kelly Osbourne the best.

Yes, an indictment against fake tanning and/or too much foundation…

  • Posted by: alittlereddress Supporter // Wed, 28 December 2011 09:28pm

Well, I’m naturally very, very fair. So fair that my legs glow white… not so good in summer, but I’ve kinda embraced it now, although it is difficult to find a really nice foundation.

  • Posted by: Morning Star Devotee // Sat, 7 January 2012 09:27am

I remember how in years past I would have random people come up to me on the street and say that I should probably go and get a tan because I didn’t really look that healthy with my skin being so pale (true story).

While I think it’s great that there’s not so much of a focus on trying to change what you have anymore and that I don’t need to get a tan to be attractive, I don’t think you can say that pale skin is a trend. A trend has to be something that you can change (hair cut, colour, lipstick, eyeshadow), not something that we can’t. It’s like saying that the new trend is for women to be six foot tall (which I am nowhere near, even with heels).

It’s great that we’re recognising natural looks and beauty and accepting what people have naturally, but we can’t trend a skin colour.

Love porcelain skin! My fave celeb with porcelain skin at the moment would be Zoe Deschanel (sorry, I don’t know how to spell her last name!) Just love her doll eyed look.
