A/W ’12 Style Wrap-up. AKA What You’ll Want to Wear this Winter.
Tue, 20 March 2012 11:17AM
One downside to living so far south in this hemisphere: it takes a whole day to get to New York, Milan or Paris. But on a happier note: we can wear the latest looks before anyone in those style capitals can. That’s because, when the shows are, uh, showing, we’re actually heading into a season that perfectly suits those catwalk clothes. Our New Yorker, Milanese and Parisian friends, however, must sit it out for another six months, before they enjoy the weather that allows them to pull off the latest runway looks. So, ready to get a jump on the style set? Start with these three trends…
Faux Fur. Yes, we said fake. We love our furry friends as much as we love good fashion. And we adore what a furry texture adds to your overall look: a fabulously bohemian edge.

Jewel Tones. There’s nothing like a sartorial splash of emerald, ruby or garnet to liven up a woeful, wintry day. Add a brilliantly hued accessory to an otherwise all-black outfit for a glamorous touch; alternatively, the colour-blocking trend is still going strong, so try pairing two jewel-inspired tones together.

Belt Up. The hourglass is back. That sound you hear? A million women sighing with relief. Because of all the silhouettes that fashion loves to come back to, the hourglass is the most feminine and flattering. Key to the look: a waist-cinching belt, which can go over everything, from coats to jackets to dresses.
