If you were a kid in the ’80s, it was kind of impossible not to get carried away with Minogue Mania. At the time, they were just as big as Care Bears and spiral perms and more Aussie than the Harbour Bridge. In fact, if my calculations are right, they’ve clocked up something ridiculous, like 64 years of show biz experience between them (crazy, considering they don’t look a day over 20, right?). But just like The Olsen’s, it’s tough not to have a favourite.

I’ve always been Team Kylie, but lately, Dannii has been razzle dazzling me with the off-the-charts hair and makeup combo’s she’s been sporting on Australia’s Got Talent. Even if you’re not a reality/talent tv show kinda girl (which I’m not), I strongly suggest you tune in for a weekly beauty fix.

1. The Glamorous Wave

For a cool nod to Old-Hollywood glam, gently backcomb the crown and section your hair into a deep side part before tonging wide sections using a medium-sized curling tong.

2. The soft up style

The trick to maintaining body in a pulled-back style with short hair is to quickly curl your hair before you pin it back. A narrow, conical tong, like Babyliss Pro Ceramic Conical Curling Iron, $89.95 is a godsend for fine and short hair as it lets you get in closer to the roots to build the volume where you need it the most.

3. The laid-back waves

Notice how there’s way more natural-looking movement in these curls? For the same beach-y vibe, use a narrow curling wand to tong medium sized sections of your hair and try to switch up the direction of each section that you curl. The more variation you have in the curls, the fuller your hair looks. Then, all you need to do is pin back the front sections with a few bobby pins and Bob’s your uncle.
