London Fashion Week S/S ’12: Backstage with Nicole Farhi’s coral pouts and gleaming skin

Thu, 22 September 2011 12:25PM

Brace yourselves, Primps, for you are about to witness possibly the most beautiful spring makeup you’ve ever laid your peepers on – Nicole Farhi’s London Fashion Week S/S ’12 look.

Yes, that’s a big call, and yes, you may be thinking, “As if, Cherie! You’re bananas”, but when you combine gleaming, luminous skin with subtly chiselled cheeks, bare eye lids and lashes, brushed-up brows and bright corally watermelon lipstick applied in a precise way, you get the ultimate beauty look.

You can try and argue; you can try and convince me otherwise, but my opinion will not budge. I mean, even Nicole Farhi’s sleek ponytails are perfection…

Stunning. Fresh. Summery. Beautiful. Wearable. Yep, that’s exactly what this magnificent – and possibly the best ever – Fashion Week makeup is. Don’t deny it; you know it’s true.

TIPS FOR RECREATING THIS LOOK:

  • Opt for a sheer foundation and mix it with some illuminator before applying to your face. This will ensure you’ve got an all-over glow.
  • Use a clear mascara to brush your brows upwards, and if you’re crying out for some eye lash definition, use it on your lashes, too.
  • Apply your lip colour with a lip brush. This will help you get that defined edge you see up there, and then finish with a light dusting of translucent powder to set the lipstick and give it a slight matte finish.

Primps,

Is this or is this not the most amazing look?
Are you in love with that lip hue like I am?
What do you think of the bare eyes trend? No one is using mascara this season.

love the lip colour but I don’t like the eyebrows brushed up thing.

Yes it’s a gorgeous look but you have to have the skin to carry it off. That lip could be easily replicated using OCC Lip Tars, I’ve mixed Grandma and Trollop and basically gotten that exact shade, love my Lip Tars =D

This looks great for summer – less is good, however, I dont think I can give up my mascara.

I think it makes everyone look far too pale and bland. Not a fan.

I love the pink dress in the first pic. So ready for summer:)

I’m not a very big fan of this look. And is it just me or does the model on the left hand side of the first photo look scarily thin?!

  • Posted by: xKMS Master Fan // Thu, 22 September 2011 01:51pm

i love that pink trench coat thing!! awesome colour! i really like the lip colour aswell, but you def need the perfect skin for it to look this amazing. agree with you coconal – she does looks very very thin!! and do all the models have blue eyes?! thats kinda awesome… lol :)

I want to like this look, but I don’t. the lipstick doesn’t look flattering, the eyebrows brushed up is wierd, and they all look a little dull. I think a glossier lip would of worked better.

firstly; love love love that lip shade!!
secondly; wearing completely bare eyes is rather an intense thought. not even any mascara?! hardcore.
thirdly; whoever below mentioned the girl on the left in the pic above is totally right – she’s scary skinny! when will we see more human girls on the runways?

I think the hair’s a tad severe and the lips a bit bright. It seems to wash the models out a bit.

LOVE this look! Only thing is I have mega problems trying to to duplicate as I have not-so-great skin (making sheer foundation a non-option)…

Im not suprised you like this look, it plays into your favourite very well. It does look exceptional.

Eye lash tintiing is going to be on the top of the to do list this summer.

I love the lipstick colours! I so love bright coloured lipsticks.

As for the tight ponytails, I think they make the models look severe. The bold bright coloured lipsticks add some femininity to their look.

its a bit too bright for me lol, would be scared to go outside with that colour on my lips! love the luminous skin though, very pretty and healthy looking!

    Love the bright lip colours!

wow the eyes look soooo bare…

wonder what shade and brand that lip colour is, it looks awesome! and definately works well with bare skin and eyes (although i would wish for a smidge of mascara and a wee bit of liner, its just a bit too bare!)

  • Posted by: zoeeangelaa Master Fan // Fri, 23 September 2011 07:55am

I think this look is amazing. I love the ponytail and the various lip shades. I quite like the idea of no mascara, but I can see why girls with palier eyelashes might not be so keen on the idea. I know my sister could pull of the trend she has fabulous eyelashes!

  • Posted by: zoeeangelaa Master Fan // Fri, 23 September 2011 07:58am

    *…more pale eyelashes…

  • Posted by: tegania11 Master Fan // Fri, 23 September 2011 08:29am

    this is awesome!! LOVE

They do look very polished, but to no mascara? I say no way Jose!

Not really a fan of the upward swept eyebrows, I think I’d look a bit devilish.

  • Posted by: Fashionista8P Master Fan // Fri, 23 September 2011 10:27pm

some times the sleek pony tail can be okay but i wouldnt over-do it

  • Posted by: miranda Devotee // Sun, 25 September 2011 12:36pm

Where would one find a clear mascara? I like the brushed up thing, not in this instance, but I’ve seen that done before. Brushing up and slightly outwards, makes the eyebrows look much fuller and frames the face.
The model on the left in the third picture appears to have lined her top lashes, maybe the top waterline. I think she looks the best, the one on the right looks a bit washed out from far away.
I think you need *something* to make this work. Bridals has the right idea- eye lash tinting is going to be big with this look.

Love the slick ponytail and strong lip

  • Posted by: Bantam Master Fan // Sun, 2 October 2011 12:14am

Brushed up brows look so weird. But whenever I try on a bold lip colour I always get the comment that I wear too much makeup, even when I don’t.

    wow, definitely statement lips!
