Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival: MYER Miss Shop Fashion Launch

Tue, 30 August 2011 4:29PM

Daisy chains make me think of…

…blissful summer days.

…running amuck outdoors as a child.

…the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival MYER Miss Shop Fashion Launch.

That’s right, pretty Primps, the last MBFF runway show to capture my attention featured an abundance of daisies, both in beautiful bunches and entwined in dainty head chains. And boy, did it take me back to my days as a little tacker wreaking havoc in the backyard where I pulled out more than my fair share of mum’s beautiful flowers. Naughty, naughty.

So, in an effort to take you back to your days a youngster having a blast in the sunshine, here are the deets and snapsies from MYER Miss Shop Fashion Launch show; a show that was as mystical and girlie as it was glam.

THE SHOW: MYER Miss Shop Fashion Launch

THE HAIR DIRECTOR: Jodi Nicholson

THE INSPIRATION: Disco Fever

THE SUPER-STAR HAIR PRODUCT USED IN THE SHOW: Redken Quick Dry 18, $26.95

JODI NICHOLSON’S TWO BOBS ABOUT THE LOOK: “We wanted to create a grungy look that was inspired by glam rock! Girls are all about image – hair that has a real dry, grungy feel; hair that has that certain ‘it’ factor. Think all night disco meets raw beauty.”

SNAPSIE NO.1: White frock + daisy chain = the perfect summer combo.

SNAPSIE NO.2: Softly textured, slightly fuzzy hair.

SNAPSIE NO.3: Daisies, daisies, and more daisies.

SNAPSIE NO.4: A flower-power pose backstage.

SNAPSIE NO.5: Sultry waves and subtle shine.

The key to this look, Primps, is the soft-yet-dirty texture to the hair. This is hair that hasn’t been washed for a day or so; hair that is slightly bedheady and fuzzy, but still somewhat shiny.

To recreate the look, part your day-old hair down the centre, and then curl sections using a large barrel tong, before brushing out the curl with your fingers. This will give the hair that piecey, natural kind of finish. No brushes allowed, OK? Then, spray some dry shampoo on the roots and hairline to soak up any excess grease, and flip your head over and use your fingers to ruffle up your hair a little, as well as distribute the product. To finish, flip your head back up, fiddle a wee bit with your locks to get them sitting exactly how you want them, and then spray a shine-enhancing hairspray (like Redken Quick Dry 18, $26.95) to help hold the subtle waves and give the hair beautiful, almost-polished feel.

Primps,

Do you like the softly textured hair from this show?
Do you like the use of whimsical daisy chains?
Is this hair you’d like to copy?
Have you snooped at the Australian Fashion Week in Review show post? You should. You could win a Redken hair pack worth 230 shmackers.

I love this whole look- my Mum made me a little halo like that for my Communion out of freesias and fresh flowers!!

I contemplated one for my wedding day but ended up putting freesias/peonies around a side chignon.
