News Just In: Nails Inc Lands in Australia

Mon, 30 July 2012 1:37PM

The sight of a new beauty collection is enough to send anybody, especially a beauty editor, into raptures. But if you’re like me and love nail polish, a new line of lacquers takes it up a notch, especially when it’s one you’ve only even been able to get your hands on it – literally – when your bestie heads back in from London Town.

I’m sure the majority of you would have heard of Nails Inc. If not, allow me to introduce you to your new nail kit staple, only just landing in Oz. The name may ring a bell, since the Baker Street polish was the first shade that Beyoncé wore after the birth of baby Blue Ivy. So of course, it was blue. But not just any blue. It’s a rich, bright and highly pigmented cobalt shade, inspired by the influx of blue hues seen on the A/W ’12 runway shows.

and for the close up …

Founder Thea Green was a fashion editor on a top UK magazine and developed the range after looking for more fashion-forward nail polish shades of a higher quality. Free from formaldehyde, DBP and Toluene, the nail polishes are named after UK streets and hot spots, and have a whole heap of celeb fans, adorning the nails of Adele, Jennifer Lopez and Rachel McAdams.

So as you can imagine, these guys are on the cutting-edge of nail polish and trends. Along with the core colour range and hero shades, there are also a heap of special-effect polishes, from magnetic to crackly-effect, as well as a killer glossy top coat. Believe-you-me it takes the term high-shine to a whole new level.

I dove straight in to playing with the product range, painting my nails every different colour. And, along with the blue Baker Street and Kensington Caviar (the aforementioned top coat), here are a few of my favourite picks …

St James
Like Kat found her perfect lipstick last week, I’ve found my signature red nail shade. It’s a pop of bright, eye-catching, almost cherry-red colour. Best part of all? You only need one coat.

Sugar House Lane Sprinkles
The ‘Sprinkles’ collection of polishes named after London’s sweetest-sounding streets. And feature chunky glitter particles for an almost cupcake-topping look. I love Sugar House Lane, a creamy grey-almost-nude, scattered with black, silver and grey glitter.

Chelsea Embankment
I’m always on the hunt for a glitter polish that doesn’t require five coats to give me full nail coverage. If you love gold glitter, you’ll love Chelsea Embankment. Try one coat for a medium wash of glitter or go for two for a show-stopping finish.

Portobello
Strong neon shades were evident on the makeup front during MBFWA ‘12, making it one colour trend that’s here to stay for this spring/summer. My pick of the bunch goes to Portobello. It’s described as an orange nail polish, but I think it’s also veering into coral territory and would work a treat on fingers and tootsies.

Nails Inc Nail Polishes are $18.95 each. For stockists, please call 02 9300 6330. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with more stockist information as it becomes available.

Have you heard of Nails Inc before, or tried these polishes?
