PRIMPED Pries: Would you sport multi-coloured dip-dyed strands?

Fri, 15 July 2011 12:20PM

Last week I had my strands lightened for the very first time. (Yes, I know that makes me sound a little lame, but I just happen to love my brunette locks a lot,OK?) I thought I was being brave, Primps; stepping over to the balayage side of life seemed like it required guts.

But I’m clearly a silly billy, because there’s another dye job trotting around Hollywood Town that (I assume) requires more balls than balayage, Primps, and it is multi-coloured dip-dyed strands.

Yes, strands that are dip-dyed and multi-coloured at the same time. Sounds bonkers right? Wrong. Well, Lauren Conrad and Snooki don’t seem to think so, because they’ve both decided to ditch their traditional blonde and brunette hair colours respectively in favour of this somewhat crazy look.

MULTI-COLOURED DIP-DYED STRANDS OWNER NO. 1: Lauren Conrad (who refuses to show her face, apparently)

MULTI-COLOURED DIP-DYED STRANDS OWNER NO. 2: Snooki

Zany? Yes. But pretty? On Lauren, yes. (Snooki is just, well, Snooki, and she’ll never be as classy as LC.) I actually think I’m in love with this look on Lauren. It’s fun and flirty, and those hues look absolutely brilliant against her blonde strands.

But my question to you, beautiful Primps, is this:

WOULD YOU SPORT MULTI-COLOURED DIP-DYED STRANDS?

WHAT ABOUT DIP-DYED STRANDS IN JUST ONE BOLD HUE? I probably wouldn’t but that’s because my classic girlie style isn’t cool enough to pull this off. (Yes, I’m happy to admit this.)

OR, HAVE YOU ALREADY TRIED THIS SPIFFY DYE JOB OUT ALREADY?

Go on, confess. I’d love to know just how brave you are.

CH x

I love this look on Lauren, it still looks so pretty and kinda cool. Not keen on it on Snooki. I’m not sure i’d try this look myself, maybe also because I have dark hair and it probably looks better on blonde.

I think it looks great on LC, but Snookie looks like she’s using a mop as hair extensions. When I was blonde I had the last inch or so dip dyed in magenta (which I loved), but it wasn’t the something I could maintain at home. In high school I used to dye random sections using good old Magic Silver White & Rose because I wasn’t allowed to use proper dye :)

I’ve have this done!! or something similar at least, i got sections of my ends done purple, i actually took in that photo of Lauren’s hair but my hairdresser told me my hair was way too dark for the pinks and blues etc and i’d be much better off with the purple, and she’s right!! I love it, it’s so funky and awesome i want to do it again. It looks way to block-y on Snooki, i think the key is to do it on bayalaged ends, which is what i have. and it helps if you don’t have a real job haha being an 18yr old student i guess i can get away with it for now

I don’t really like thius look. Reminds me of the tacky high school girls.

  • Posted by: sumaya Master Fan // Fri, 15 July 2011 01:01pm

I don’t like this look! It’s too messy and i think if i was to wear this being 28yrs old, it would look immature and weird!

  • Posted by: ladolcelana Enthusiast // Fri, 15 July 2011 01:01pm

I don’t like it. It’s a huge trend, and I’ve seen heaps of teenage girls doing it, but I just think it’s looks tacky. Can’t beat a classic, rich hair color.

aargh i don’t think i could do this!!

lauren conrads looks pretty cute for a random festival day maybe, but no chance i would do this for more than a day!

like the idea that olivia had with purple strands on dark hair, that would be ok… but multiple colours on blonde reminds me of Avril Lavigne, eck.

snooki is too much to bear, there is no class there at all!

I think this looks great on blonde hair but not so much on dark brunette hair. Having dark brown hair myself, I definitely couldn’t see this look working successfully (unless the Snooki-effect is what you’re after!)
The most risque I ever went was including some red and blonde highlights sporadically through my longer ends but way to hard to maintain – block colour it is!

    Laurens looks just amazing!!! :)

    Snooki not so much!

Were these two at the same carnival or something? :P

Love LC’s hair, it looks so fun and playful!

I would love to do it myself, and have been considering it for many months now! Similar to what Olivia did, I’d love to get deep purple ends on my dark brown hair…not too many just a few to lighten things up a bit.

I probably wouldn’t wear it for too long, maybe just a few weeks…it’s nice to do something outside of your usual beauty/fashion trends from time to time.

I think Snooki looks her usual trashtastic self…that hair looks like it’s in really bad condition!

I actually love lauren’s look! i think Sienna Miller woudl be able to pull this off better than anyone! i wish she’d give it a whirl too! my locks are dark brown.. this wouldn’t work for me:(

  • Posted by: Julie Rodwell // Fri, 15 July 2011 02:18pm

I like the look but I think my hair would need another inch before I tried the look.

  • Posted by: swoopingbuzzards Master Fan // Fri, 15 July 2011 02:19pm

Lauren Conrads hair looks amazing! don’t like snooki’s hair as much, though. Would love to try this out but my hair is shorttt.

  • Posted by: MrsAriGold Supporter // Fri, 15 July 2011 02:41pm

I love Lauren’s hair! I wish mine could look like hers but it needs to grow another 30 cms!

I love Snooki but her hair is so trashy looking.

  • Posted by: Nita // Fri, 15 July 2011 03:06pm

Goodness no! This look is awful.

  • Posted by: georgiamae83 Devotee // Fri, 15 July 2011 03:08pm

Oh yes, I love this. More so on Lauren Conrad than Snooki (i just don’t get the latter, her appeal, the show all of it).
I have short hair but i think i could still get away with it. Fun for summer!

  • Posted by: nita01 Master Fan // Fri, 15 July 2011 03:08pm

Snooki is just trampy…sorry if I offend any of her fans but I just cannot say anything nice about her. But LC, again looks awesome. I love her hair. It makes me want to go out and get mine done.

  • Posted by: sprinkles37 Master Fan // Fri, 15 July 2011 03:17pm

i think LC can pull it off, but Snookie just looks trashy. I think because LCs hair is in good condition, while Snookie’s looks ratty

  • Posted by: SydneyRose Master Fan // Fri, 15 July 2011 03:20pm

I don’t like multicoloured hair and have never done it to my hair. Not even when I was a teenager. I prefer glamorous and classical hair styles.

  • Posted by: xKMS Master Fan // Fri, 15 July 2011 04:34pm

woww LC’s hair looks awesome!! i just cant imagine her being cool enough to do it? haha i need more proof! and snooki’s hair is just… * * ..*shrugs* lol

  • Posted by: MayaS Master Fan // Fri, 15 July 2011 04:42pm

I doubt I could ever pull it off, but on LC? AWESOME! Love it. And the best bit is, when she gets sick of it? Snip snip!

  • Posted by: NatMon Master Fan // Fri, 15 July 2011 04:53pm

I’m not a fan. Maybe for a party, but not for every day.

  • Posted by: Tina-1291133452 Master Fan // Fri, 15 July 2011 10:08pm

ah i dont like this either :( i like my hair being one colour only, looks much more classic!

  • Posted by: lady Devotee // Sat, 16 July 2011 08:50am

Really works on L.C, not so much on Snooki – perhaps because she’s chosen the lighter blonde colour?

I would love to try something like this, but I’d probably stick with one colour : )

  • Posted by: Fashionista8P Master Fan // Sat, 16 July 2011 09:51am

wow, i would never have thought this look would be any good but on lauren with the blonde hair it looks really fun… i really would like to try it now… but then i think the only way to get rid of it is to cut it out so i will have to be ready to loose my locks before i try anything too drastic

  • Posted by: beck // Sat, 16 July 2011 11:39am

i saw this in LC’s blog the other day and loved it so much ive booked in to go get it done!

  • Posted by: strawbsundae Master Fan // Sat, 16 July 2011 12:00pm

I love the look on Lauren!

  • Posted by: stem // Sat, 16 July 2011 08:10pm

Reminds me of a horrific experience with fudge colour in high school. If your hair is blonde be prepared for that colour sticking around for an incredibly long time!

  • Posted by: ErinG Enthusiast // Sun, 17 July 2011 08:53pm

Snooki makes it look tacky. Love it on Lauren, though, especially as it was only a semi.
I want to see a pic of your balayage, pleaaaasee :)

  • Posted by: Becca Master Fan // Sun, 17 July 2011 09:56pm

I wouldn’t do this style myself but Lauren can definitely pull it off whereas Snooki just looks a bit trashy.

  • Posted by: Sarah // Sun, 17 July 2011 11:23pm

    Trashy.

  • Posted by: tinamiller Enthusiast // Mon, 18 July 2011 12:11am

I love this on LC, not at all on Snooki (who the hell is she???). I think this a look for the youngun’s, a fun look to do something different for a short while.

  • Posted by: Karen-1298334769 Master Fan // Mon, 18 July 2011 09:58am

If I could get away with this at work, I would definitely do this. I love Lauren’s hair, it is awesome!

Maybe I’m showing my (somewhat advanced) age, but not in a million years!

  • Posted by: kristinkate Devotee // Mon, 18 July 2011 11:00am

I don’t mind this look – but don’t think I could pull it off in the “corporate world”. It’s a little too young, fun and flirty for every day life. But it looks great on LC!

  • Posted by: GorgeousEmeralds Master Fan // Tue, 19 July 2011 08:28pm

Overall I don’t like this look as it doesn’t elegant at all, but I would say that for those who does like it it look better on blond hair.

  • Posted by: jamief Enthusiast // Fri, 22 July 2011 10:26am

It looks great on Lauren but Snooki’s looks quite trashy, I think you’ve got to be pretty daring to do it!

  • Posted by: loopylexy Master Fan // Fri, 30 September 2011 05:54pm

I’d like it, but a low key version. Not over the top. Maybe.

  • Posted by: Shannon Lee Supporter // Tue, 8 November 2011 09:19am
