Product Banter: An ace hair care newbie from TRESemmé.

When it comes to makeup, Primps, I tend to stick with products I know and love. You know, rarely switching foundations and buying the same concealer over and over again. But when it comes to hair products, I’m a little more frivolous. And boy, do I enjoy playing the hair care field. This is partly because I’m yet to stumble and fall over hair products that I absolutely love and will simply never, ever stray from, and partly because new hair products suck me in. Big time.

And this month, one brand in particular has lured me in with their super fantastic newbie. The best part is, hair product-lovin’ Primps, is that this brand is always awesome value and is a supermarket-stocked cheapie that actually delivers. So next time you slip off to Woolies for that bag of Sherbies, I suggest you sashay down the products aisle and check this bad boy out:

Awesome new cheap-as-chippies product: TRESemmé Fresh Start Dry Shampoo, $11.49

I don’t know what I did before dry shampoos came along. Actually, that’s a lie. I know exactly what I used to do – I washed my grease-prone hair every freakin’ day. And boy, was it tiring. But now, thanks to brands like Cedel, RPR, Batiste, Fudge and now TRESemmé, I get to sleep in for an extra 15 minutes and save my locks from daily heat styling. It’s a double whammy win, Primps.

TRESemmé’s first foray into the world of dry shampoos is definitely impressive. This dry shampoo not only zaps grease and oil and sweat, it’s also formulated to nourish the hair using mineral clay and citrus extracts. And at a little over 10 shmackers, we can all chuck one in our gym bags, our bathrooms and our desk drawers. God knows we will be needing them come party season. Oh, and if you suffer from fine, shitty flat hair like me, you’ll definitely enjoy the extra volume and texture that comes from using this product, whether your hair is clean or dirty. It’s more than a wee bit brilliant, Primps, and it even has that signature delicious TRESemmé smell. If I wasn’t aware that sniffing aerosols is a REALLY BAD IDEA, you would probably catch me going back for a few whiffs here and there during the day. (But don’t worry, I won’t. I need to hold onto my brains cells for a few more years yet.) And even though it only technically goes on-counter in December, a few cheeky ones have already popped up on supermarket shelves. So keep your pretty peepers on the lookout for this one, OK?

Random fact: Super stylist Joh Bailey used this exact product to create all the wonderful ‘dos on the amazingly pretty Australia’s Next Top Model finalists in this year’s season final. (Yep, the one where that epic muddle-up occurred.) It gave him the volume, texture and grit he needed, as well as eliminated the need for the old bathroom basin. And hey, if it’s good enough for Joh, I mustn’t have been lying when I said it was ace. (Hint: I definitely wasn’t lying.)

Lovely Primps…

Are you excited about this new product?
Do you use dry shampoo?
Why do you love it?
And which brand is your fave?

Currently a Ceder user, previously a Toni&Guy;user.. but was easily led astray.

I’m happy to be considered a bit of a dry shampoo floozy – but there’s no way I’ll ever give it up.

My fine, limp hair is already getting excited at the words “texture” and “volume”.. Off to Woolies, I go!

Will it show up like dandruff for girls with dark hair?

I would be willing to give this a go if they released a black hair formulation. For that reason, i’ll stick with Batiste for Black hair.

I will stick with Batiste for black hair. If they release a black hair formulation for this I would definitely give it a go!

Just bought Cedel too just to try out and because it helps out breast cancer, pink ribbon, its good, TRESemme sounds great too. Like that it nourishes as well.

I received the Batiste dry shampoo for brunettes, and found it no different to the regular version. Am I alone in this?
I love love love dry shampoo, it’s the reinvented ‘hat day’ when your hair is in need of a wash.
*slinks away to spray some in now* ;)

Oooh so great to see more brands bringing out dry shampoos to try! Currently loving Lee Stafford’s, with Toni & Guy a close 2nd… but TRESemmé is going on my shopping list!

Zina, even though my hair isn’t black, it’s still quite dark and as long as you rub the product in with your fingers (you know, mush it in a little), you’ll never look like you’ve got dandruff. Does that help?

Oh, and Polly Mae, don’t forget the Sherbies!! xx

I love a good dry shampoo, but sadly, after trying this one, this is not one of them.
I find the smell really overpowering and it really doesn’t “clean” my hair or remove greasiness from the roots like my fav, the Batiste range, does :(
Definitely won’t waste my money on this one again.
