Rejoice! The Revlon Lip Butter Wait is Over …

Fri, 13 April 2012 11:12AM

With a slew of new lipsticks on counters now, from the highly pigmented to variations on cult classics and the ultra-glossy, we’re not spoilt for choice when it comes to selecting the perfect shade and formulation for all of our lippie needs – right, Primpettes? But every now and then, we come across a new gem, a lip product that’s a little out of the ordinary, and that makes even the most jaded beauty junkies squeal with delight.

Introducing …the highly anticipated Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters, $21.95 each, which, I have been informed, have just hit stores now. Two words: Woo hoo!

And – ta da! – here they are:

Revlon-ColorBurst-Lip-Butters

Let me explain why I’m so jumping-out-of-my-skin excited…

First of all, these beauties are the best of both worlds. They’re pigmented enough to appeal to seasoned lipstick wearers, yet subtle enough for a weekend outing (or those looking to take their first foray into lipstick). Plus, the sheer-to-medium coverage is easily buildable, so you can control the intensity you want at any given time.

Then there’s the über-moisturising formula. It’s no wonder, considering they’re infused with a lip-lickingly delicious combination of coconut, mango and shea butter. Plus they’re rich in vitamins and antioxidants so as to soothe dry and cracked lips. The gel-like formula glides on like a dream, all soft and – you guessed it – buttery.

As for mileage, they last approximately 2 ½ hours before you need to touch up. But, IMO, when touching up is this much fun, who cares how often you do it!

My top picks: for those who fancy a fuchsia, Sweet Tart is a glossy candy pink, while for the perfect red, look no further Cherry Tart – it gives you just enough high-shine and colour oomph to work back perfectly to a slick of black liner. Fig Jam caters for lovers of a deep mocha and, once blended, settles to a gorgeous reddish-brown.

Oscar de la Renta Fall 2012 Beauty

However, if you’re looking for more of your everyday office-appropriate shades, we’re turning to Oscar de la Renta’s A/W ’12 show as inspiration, where makeup guru and Revlon’s Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman used the lip butters for a playful yet feminine beauty look. Lips were painted with Creamsicle, a barely-there peach, Sugar Frosting, a pretty pearlescent pink and Crème Brulee, a creamy nude.

And for all you orange-lip lovers out there? Here’s the porcelain-skinned beauty herself, Revlon’s Emma Stone, looking as pretty as a peach sporting the ColorBurst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti.

Note how the wearable orangey-coral shade complements her pastel makeup palette and glossy copper hair. Gorge.

And lastly, I’m just a little bit in love with the tube. Call me lazy, but the shades are an almost identical match to the embossed case, making it a perfect to hold against your ensemble if you’re looking to go matchy-matchy. Or even to find your favourite shade in the jumble of all 746 of your lipsticks.

As you can tell Primpettes, I’m more than just a little excited. So is Yaz. Are you?

Will you be rushing out to buy one?

Got a shade you would like to try?

I was a bit impatient and got these off ebay – I love them as I prefer the sheerer moisterising formulas compared to your traditional lippies. I picked up Sweet Tart, Tutti Frutti, Candy Apple, Peach Parfait and Lollipop. My fave is Candy Apple and Tutti Frutti.

If anyone is after these, you can pick them up from Priceline who are doing a 2 for 1 on them at the moment. I just picked up Creme Brulee and Strawberry Shortcake and I LOVE them! I already had Raspberry Pie and Sweet Tart, and they are so bright on me that I almost don’t feel comfortable wearing them. So pigmented!

Woo Hoo indeed, the colours are awesome, I would love to try the Candy Apple or the Fire engine red colour.

I ordered two from the US last week (I was impatient). I’m so looking forward to getting them and seeing what the actual colours are like. I dare say, given how many great reviews I’ve read about them, I will probably go out and buy a few more. I initially bought Gum Drop for myself (a lavender shade) and Candy Apple for my daughter who favours red shades.

Lazy! haha you said to! :)

It was definitely a toughie to only pick out a couple because the colour range is alot better than i expected. I’d say trying out the colour is a great option, some are more pigmented than others and will show up differently on different pigmentation of lips. I was intimidated at first by tutti fruitti, but, it is of course my favourite.
I really liked the range of pinks because usually most dont show up on my red toned lips so it was quite exciting!

I bought this in sweet tart and LOVE it – I think I may have to head down to priceline if they’re doing 2 for 1 – thanks for the heads up Kj_44!

LOVE the lip butters, I bought my first couple (Pink truffle and Sugar Plum) from ebay a few months ago and already finished Pink Truffle, so I put in an order with ebay last week for Cherry Tart, another Pink Truffle, Berry Smoothie and Peach Parfait!

They are so smooth and moisturising, I adore them.

Gosh Emma Stone looks fantastic. I would love to try these, but I’m trying to be good as I really don’t need any new products right now!

Emma Stone is wearing Peach Parfait, not Tutti Frutti :)

I picked a few of these up at Priceline over the weekend (loving the 2 for 1 deal!). I got Sweet Tart (such a beautiful, bright candy pink) and Peach Parfait simply because Emma Stone looks so divine wearing it. It’s a gorgeous peach with a hint of sparkle. Can’t stop wearing them, it’s love!

A post with my full review will be on my blog this morning. http://www.thebeautyblot.wordpress.com

Emma Stone looks gorgeous in those promo images for the Revlon Lip Butters. I’m loving the look of the shades Peach Parfait, Sweet Tart and Lollipop. These seem to be really popular!

I was unsure about all the hype, but now that I’ve tried these I love them. I got Raspberry Pie, Lollipop, Peach Parfait, Sugar Plum, and Red Velvet. I want more though. The colours are gorgeous.

  • Posted by: JellyBelly Supporter // Fri, 20 April 2012 08:01pm

Oooh these look good! If Priceline is still doing the two for one, then count me in!

  • Posted by: PiaB // Mon, 23 April 2012 01:05pm

BEST LIPPIE EVER!! And I should know cos I”ve tried a million of them. I”ve got Cotton Candy and Sugar Plum and planning to get one of the red shades next. My daughter has Lollipop and it is now her “”signature”" colour.
