The 10 Beauty Instagram Accounts You Need to Follow

One of my favourite pastimes is to rug up with a steaming mug of coffee and my iPhone and scroll through PRIMPED’s Instagram feed.

I’m going to roll with it and say that the majority of you would have heard of the app Instagram and more than likely have your own account. And the good news is that it’s not just iPhone users who have access to it – Android peeps are now in on the fun, too.

Still don’t know what I’m banging on about? Well, basically it’s like a visual Twitter. You take photos on your mobile phone, and then you upload them to your account, and then start following people. Kind of like requesting friends on Facebook, or following accounts on Twitter. And it’s not just any old photos – you get the choice of a number of filters to add to your snaps before you upload.

Not only is adding one of these filters to an image guaranteed to look umpteen times more pretty than a regular image, it turns your photo into a work of art, and is another amazing way you can use social media as a way to document the latest happenings in your life. Plus, of course, check out what else is happening around the world.

Here are 10 of our current favourite beauty Instagram accounts to follow, providing us with a photo stream of gorgeous imagery including new beauty products, inspirational looks, and a few fashion picks thrown in for good measure.

Who: The Beauty Department

What: Since The Beauty Department is one of our favourite beauty websites here at PRIMPED HQ, it was guaranteed that their Instagram feed was going to be just as gorgeous. With an array of shots of their beauty tutorials that you can check out on their website along with makeup advice and DIY ideas, we could keep scrolling for days. And days.

Who: Michelle Phan
Instagram: @michellefawn
What: Not only is she the go-to girl for YouTube beauty tutorials as well as Lancôme’s global beauty blogger, Michelle Phan is also one heck of an instagram-er. She documents her global travels to revealing latest must-try mani and everything in between.

Who: Eva Chen
Instagram: @evachen212
What: You can’t actually log on to Instagram without seeing a new snap from Eva Chen. But hey, we’re not complaining. Along with being one to follow on Twitter, the Teen Vogue Ed shares her must-have beauty buys, skincare routines as well as snaps of her killer wardrobe and lust-worthy purchases. Swoon.

Who: Coco Rocha

What: The supermodel and It girl is not only gorgeous, but hilarious, too. Along with pictures of the French Riviera and the like, she also uploads snaps of mimicking herself on billboards and runway shots. Exhibit A:

Who: Chanel

What: Anything Chanel is ok with us, and the fact that the luxe label only updates the pictures once every six weeks or so, it makes their images are all the more special. Each of the behind-the-scenes shots has that classic Chanel feel, with a clean and classic black border and a dreamy, soft-focus filter like Hudson or X-pro-11. J’adore.

Who: Maybelline New York Australia

What: What we love most about this Instagram account is that it strikes the perfect balance of lifestyle and beauty images. With pervy shots of delicious delicacies and floral decorations, we also get our fashion fix via the look of the day direct from NYC.

Who: Benefit Cosmetics
Instagram: @benefitcosmetics
What: Every aspect of Benefit’s packaging and product is so fabulously gorgeous and girly, so as you can imagine the Instagram shots are more so with the added filter effect. With snaps from out and about in San Francisco at Benefit HQ, as well as the signature Benefit flirty and fun slogans, it’s definitely one that adds the femme factor to your photo stream.

Who: Renya Xydis for Valonz Haircutters

What: One of our go-to hair gurus Renya Xydis is currently out of town, so we’re seriously jelly of her Santorini sunset snaps. However, on a day-to-day basis, Renya is a constant source of hair inspiration, sharing snaps of styles to try as well as a celeb client or two.

Who: Lanolips

What: Apart from being our go-to product for dry, chapped lips and pesky dry skin spots, Lanolips Instagram feed is filled with artfully designed product shots as well as breathtaking travel snaps. Also, from now up until Monday 6th August, the Lanolips team is running an Instagram competition – all you need to do is take a picture of your most lovely item with a tube of Lanolips 101 Ointment and hashtag #LovelyLanolips.
