Video: If There’s One Beauty Product That You Should Buy This Year …
Mon, 14 May 2012 12:34PM
… make it a serum.
But I’ll admit, Primpettes, I didn’t start using one until about a year ago. Bad beauty writer. But me, along with I’m sure a lot of you, was somewhat mystified about adding yet another layer to my already extensive beauty regime. From cleansers, toners, moisturiser, eye cream and then makeup (or tinted moisturiser on the weekends), I really didn’t think, at age 23 – wrinkles? What wrinkles? – that I’d need to add another skincare step, and more than likely and expensive one at that.
It wasn’t until I visited my fabulous beauty therapist Leanne, who told me I was in desperate need of a serum to give my dull and dehydrated skin a helping hand and a little TLC, that I sat up and paid attention. That was this time last year and I haven’t looked back – neither has my super-hydrated and much-better-for-it face. So without further ado, let’s talk more about serums and why you should probably add one to your beauty arsenal. Like now.
So Primpettes, tell me. Do you use a serum?
If so, have you noticed a difference in your skin since you started using one?
Have you tried the L’Oreal Luminosity Extraordinary Serum?
Hayley x
*L’Oreal Luminosity Extraordinary Serum is $35.95 and available now from pharmacies and department stores.

Hi
I was lucky enough to trial the L’Oreal Youth Code for you recently. For some reason, I could not log onto my account so will tell you here what I thought. It is a light, silky product lovely to use and comes in a great pump bottle that gives you just enough product each time or you can pump it again for more. I have pigmentation marks on my upper cheeks (not cool) and have used every cream on the market, This is my third week using the product and I have noticed a slight change in the level of pigmentation. I am using it day and night. I love the silky feel of this serum, it is light and not at all oily. What I do love about this product is when I finish my makeup I put a few dabs here and there and it gives a lovely illuminating glow on the skin. I would recommend this serum and will buy it again.

I use Paula’s Choice Super Antioxidant Concentrate every day as a general antioxidant serum.
I was recently given a few samples of Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair and Idealist serums and I’m loving them! They seem to be helping to fade the awful (sun damage) pigmentation that I have on my forehead – all my frekles have joined togeher, it’s horrible.
But the Night Repair seems to be fading them, so hopefully it keeps working!

I love serums and I have tried many of them. Sometimes I just do rosehip oil but my current serum is absolutely devine. It’s Dr Lewinn’s LSC S8 Triple-action Day Defence 30 and it has made such a difference for my skin. It is like a powerful anti-oxidant hit daily:)

It does sound fantastic…I’m currently using a serum for troubled skin but might have to change to this when my skin clears up a bit!

Yes, I certainly do use a serum but unfortunately I havent seen any real benefits from it. I think I will have to try the Loreal one after reading and watching this.

I use Aspect skincare, with a vitamin C serum for day and a vitamin A one for night. I find it makes my skin feel very smooth and silky, especially during the cooler months when your skin is dehydrated.

I love using serums as it makes moisturiser set in really well. My current favourite is L’Oreal Youth Code Luminosity serum as it gives my skin that subtle ‘glow’!

I use rosehip oil by Trilogy (cheap at less than $20 a bottle) as my serum. Every night before I moisturise, I massage this into my skin, and let it soak in for 10 minutes.

I really liked the first formula of L’Oreal Youth code that I tried. Mmm like the sound of this one!

Sounds really nice, but isn’t it getting a little pricey for a drugstore product?
