We Love: Barbara Palvin’s Punchy Coral Pout
Thu, 24 May 2012 9:57AM
So we’re a little over mid-way through the Cannes Film Festival and Eliza and I have been on red carpet watch, waiting with bated breath for Diane and co. to make an appearance. And while I was scanning my screen, I spotted Barbara Palvin. Have you met her? If not, allow me to introduce you. If you’re already acquainted, bask in her beauty for a few more moments, if you please …
The 18-year-old stunner was scouted on the streets of her native Budapest two years ago and after a string of runway appearances, including Prada, Louis Vuitton and opening for Chanel Pre-Fall ’11 show, it was inevitable that she would catch the eye of somebody and land a beauty campaign. So big snaps to L’Oréal Paris. Earlier this year she was named one of the latest additions to the famed Dream Team, and along with her fellow members – Eva Longoria, Doutzen Kroes, Bianca Balti and the like – she made her debut at Cannes for the premiere of Lawless. F-lawless skin and long, textured ponytail aside, we’ve been busy drooling over Barbara’s neon coral pout. And lucky for all of us, we’re found an almost exact match: L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche L’Or Electric in Metallic Coral, $25.95, from pharmacies and department stores.
This high-shine coral hue punches some serious weight in the pigment department with an eye-catching finish, and glides on silky smooth, just like the other Colour Riche counterparts. And, it’s long lasting – two hours and counting, Primpettes. The lipstick joins a few other limited edition beauty buys to coincide with this year’s Cannes Film Festival, of which L’Oréal Paris are the official makeup artists. For the month of June the L’Or Electric Collection will hit counters, giving us free reign on creating a range of electric red carpet-esque beauty looks.
I’m also a little bit in love with the new shades of L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche L’Or Electric, part of the well-loved Infallible eyeshadow collection. I’m currently partial to lilac and Metallic Lilac, $19.95 (pictured) contains shimmering silver, magenta and deep purple particles to create an off-the-charts shimmery eyeshadow look. Depending on whether you want a subtle hint of colour or an all-over wash, blend it over your lid, layering more colour for added intensity. Or you can apply it as a slick of liner.
On the nail front, a cobalty-purple never goes astray, and L’Oréal Paris Le Vernis L’Or Electric in Mystic Blue, $6.95, is a royally rich shade, which only needed one coat. A massive selling point for a girl like me who generally likes the feel and finish of two or three. It also comes in a bright greeny-gold – Majestic Green (pictured) and Magic Croisette, a dreamy sea blue-green shade that will send you off on a daydream to days spent on the French Riviera. Sigh. However Mystic Blue is today’s mani of choice:
So Primpettes, thoughts on Barbara? Stunning no?
And what about these new shades? Do you love a limited edition collection, too?
PS. What do you think about Barbara’s tricked-up black liner?
