Because hair and makeup SHOULD be fun

And even though we’re over here at the shows, eating Panini and sipping on Chianti and riding Vespas, we NEVER forget that the absolute bottom line of playing with hair and makeup is that yes, it does serve to make us look good and feel great, but ultimately, it serves to allow us to be creative, and playful and experiential. And I must say, the spring/summer 2009 collections have not been exploding with playfulness and craziness. It’s been quite conservative indeed. And then Moschino stumbled in, all wild quiffs and silly sunglasses. And we sighed a collective sigh of relief.

I mean look at this!I love the foxy jewel toned dress but I REALLY love and the mental, oversized quiff and rockstar eye makeup. It’s fun. Makes me want to be all fun and go dance on a stage in a really enormous nightclub, before security spots me and asks me to get down.

And then there’s the Green Goblin, which again I love.

I know it’s edging on silly, flirting with ridiculous, but i think it’s quite sexy. It’s all cheekbones and hair pulled up tightly at the sides for even more lift and then BANG, that wonderful, exuberant twist of teased madness. Bit mad hatter, bit rockabilly and LOTS of theatre. Which sometimes, is what you want from your hairstyle. Isn’t it? Something outstanding. Something memorable. (Hint: Yes.)

    I agree. I think people take beauty too seriously sometimes and while we might not re-create this look exactly, we can still get inspiration from it and admire it for it’s creative edge.

    i agree! runways are meant to get you thinking! not necc to do exactly as they do!! those sunnies are mad, i’d wear them.

    I think whimsy makes the world go round. These looks make me giggle and take notice. When I do dress up, I prefer messed-up updos. They’re great entrance makers.

    Ooh very nice and bolt and edgy!!! It’s true, mixing it up and trying something new for hair and MU is fun :)
