FIRST LOOK: Sex and The City 2, Carrie Bradshaw and her super on-trend hair!
Wed, 2 September 2009 10:55AM
Seeing images of CARRIE BRADSHAW trotting through central park this morning, sexy, dainty heels clopping, vibrant, flimsy dress swirling around her (teeeeny) frame, big curls bouncing and signature statement necklace swinging, was akin to finding that black patent belt that is the ONLY belt that makes around 579 of the outfits in your wardrobe work after having lost it for several months. Or a long lost friend. (Belts can be friend, in my opinion.)
Here she is, in all her CARRIE splendour…

(Did you squeal a little bit inside when you saw that? Me too.)
And the close up of that hair…

There a few things of note with this hair, all of which make me very pleased, excited and smug.
How so? Well, she has pretty much given evidence that every single one of the big spring/summer hair trends I’ve been talking about, both here and in our Look Book, are accurate, and that I didn’t make them up like I usually do. Haha! I’m kidding. Making stuff up takes too much imagination, far easier to just thieve the trends from models/celebrities.
Trends hiding in this hair:
1. It is long. Just like a good recessionistas hair should be. Less styling! More time between hair appointments! More money for toast!
2. It is a lovely, natural, imperfect goldy-blondey-brown. This of course is CARRIE’s trademark hair colour, and like her style and her clothes, is timeless. If you want this look: Start off with a nice dark blonde/light brown base then ask your hairdresser to paint in shades of caramel and honey, (technical term: balayage) starting a few inches down from the roots. Meant to look like you were on holidays a few months back and haven’t bothered to get your hair done. Faux recessionista.
3. Big, wavy curls that have been brushed out for more softenss and volume. (AKA Brushed-out curls.) CARRIE’s look to have been created with a huge curling tong, with an inch left out at the ends to create less of a ringlet, and then groomed with a paddle brush and hair spray to tame frizz. As she started with a curly base, her curls are even thicker than if she had a straight mop. Which is handy, because the volume is part of what makes this look sexy sexy.
4. The deep side-part. Another trend I’ve been banging on about since the shows in February. Generally CARRIE was always a centre part girl, but I think you’ll all agree this side part gives a modern take on her curls. And, I would argue brings out her eyes and cheekbones better-er-er. I’m going to copy.
5. I want to be wearing this, walking there, in that movie.
Do you love her hair?
Do you love seeing this picture?
Can you not wait for the movie?
Is it sad that I not once refer to her as Sarah Jessica Parker this whole post?

Love the hair and makeup. And the dress. Such a lovely colour. I have the feeling it wouldn’t look as lovely and floaty on anyone bigger than a 6 though.
And Trixie, I agree about the legs. They don’t look like they should be able to support her.

I also agree about the side part. I think the side part combined with the curls softens her features a lot. Which is always a good thing.

I’m worried the movie won’t be as good as the first one…or that Big will eff it up again and cause me to cry for Carrie…or that something bad will happen to Steve…or that Charlotte and Harry break up…

I love! I wish they would keep making SATC movies forever if only for the fashion and beauty. Stuff the storylines…
