Video: Five of the Best – Guys’ Scents to Give for Christmas

Wed, 12 December 2012 8:13AM

There’s nothing like a last minute rush to the shops to get that one last gift for Uncle Bernie. Or dad. Clearly, a situation like this calls for the ‘No Brainer’ of all men’s gifts… THE MAN SCENT! Here, I take you through a pick for every kind of guy.

Let’s take a look…

Here are the notes…

Man Scent #1: YSL L’Homme Libre, $100, from department stores, for the CREATIVE guy

Perhaps it’s because Mr. Natalie Portman (Benjamin Millepied) is the face of the fragrance, or maybe it’s because I love all YSL scents, but this elixir is a winner for me. Designed with the creative man in mind, it fuses notes of bergamot, pink pepper and patchouli to make something truly yummy.

Man Scent #2: Polo Ralph Lauren Blue Sport, $99, from department stores, for the PREPPY PONY guy

If your man is a fan of the polo, or just loves the whole preppy scene, then look no further than this spectacular offering from the King of Prep – Ralph Lauren. Expect him to smell like green apples, mint, mandarin, sage and ginger; a fruity cocktail of scents you’d expect at a day on the green. Sign me up!

Man Scent #3: Calvin Klein Encounter, $120, from department stores, for the SEXY guy

Is your man mysterious? Seductive? Masculine? Or at least, do you want him to be? Erm, clearly not talking about your dad or Uncle Bernie in this one. Gross! Then this sexxxxxxy scent will get him purring your name thanks to its notes of cardamom, rum, pepper, atlas cedar and musk. Oh yeah.

Man Scent #4: Prada Luna Rossa, $129, from department stores, for the SAILING guy

It’s no surprise this scent smells a little like the sea; it’s named after a boat and crew who work America’s Cup. Think: extreme sailing, victory, prestige and marine scene (boat shoes, perhaps?). Personally, I think this fragrance smells like a dream. I’m sold on the notes of lavender, clary sage and spearmint., which are surprisingly zingy.

Man Scent #5: Giorgio Armani Sport Code, $115, from department stores, for the SPORTS MAD guy

It doesn’t matter what sport your man’s into, this fragrance takes them all. From the adrenaline of sky diving, to the excitement of skiing, footy or even backyard bowls, surprise your man (or dad, uncle or g’pa) with this refreshing scent that’s packed with lemon, mandarine, mint and ginger.

Tell me Primpers…

What do you think of these seasonal scents?

Any take your eye?

This will be so handy for ladies buying for partners. My partner recently got a new after shave through a prize i won so i dont think i need to buy him anymore.
My pick would be YSL L’Homme Libre, but whats pink pepper? :)

A nice-smelling man is divine. Doesn’t matter what scent he is wearing…if it “works” it really works.

I like a lot of Calvin Klein men’s cologne. Encounter is one I have not smelled before. My partner has several CK cologne’s or men’s scent which are very nice.
