Armand Petitjean "had a moment" and created this cosmetics/skincare/fragrance company while exploring the ruins of Le Château (castle) de Lancosme, during his 1935 hols in the French countryside. It took just a year for Petitjean to release a so-good-it's-still-around moisturiser called Nutrix, before a line of lippies followed. (Lancome's logo, the golden rose, was inspired by the fields of tulips roses growing around le castle.) Cut to 2008 and you can't go far without seeing Daria Werbowy making smoldering eyes at you for Lancôme. Isabella Rossellini, Juliette Binoche, Uma Thurman, Mena Suvari, Drew Barrymore, Kate Winslet, Anne Hathaway and Clive Owen have all done/are doing their thing for Lancôme. You'd have to be living on the planet-that-used-to-be-Pluto if you hadn't tried, owned or at least heard of Juicy Tubes. Churns out top notch skin lotions, pretty face-painting colours, and pretty sprays with the same glossy efficiency that LiLo enters/exits rehab.
