Primpers, are your nails your ‘thing?’ Do you feel ready to take on the world when your digits are ‘done?’ Is that a yes? Well, you’re in for a ton of fun this season, because nail polish and nail art are about to get a whole lot fancier (and easier). Meet the latest nail newbies that are going to rock your sockets off.

Paint job vs nail sticker, can you tell the difference? Carrie Keagen

Texture is the new top coat: Right now, graphic patterns and prints, like polka dots, geometric shapes and a ton of animal-print, are where nail art is at. And it’s got to be all ten digits or nothing. Back in the old days, nail art used to be reserved for one nail only - two if you were feeling bold, but that’s just plain greedy if you ask us.

The French mani-revolution continues: Unlike last season’s daring moon mani (AKA the reverse French manicure), this winter, we’re crowning the traditional French Manicure the 2011 comeback kid. The shy-girls guide to nail art, it makes a statement, without stealing the spotlight. And the best bit? It flatters every nail shape and outfit! Try keeping your nails short and softly rounded on the edges for a natural-looking finish.

Nail strips are the busy-girls guide to manicures: Nail strips are as cool as a cucumber right now. Big on convenience, the latest crop are foolproof to apply, come in more colours, prints and styles than we’ve had hot dinners, and boast zero drying time, meaning you can literally, peel, press, trim and go. Perfect if you’re too busy to sit in a salon and watch your nail art dry, or can’t paint to save yourself. Our vote goes to Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips in It Girl and Wild Child, $14.95 (on sale April).

Metallic polish makes you look made-of-money: If you’re new to nail art, take baby steps with a metallic polish. Gold and silver are the hero lacquers for the season, but if you’re keen to try something a little more daring, opt for shimmery lacquers in teal, turquoise or navy for a fresh change.

Primpers,

Are you already on board the nail art train?

Which trend are you most keen to try?

I adore nail art and always after new designs and practice them myself. I would love to try nail strips and nail stickers. I am a big fan of french manicure but its been a while haven’t wore it. I did polka dots, zebra, tiger and leopard nail art on my nails and got appreciated for the same by people around me.Love to experiment with my nails all the time.

I like nail art! Well the more simple stuff tho.. like a leopard print, dots or the Black Shatter OPI nailpolish! Tbh not super excited by the nail stickers I think the overall look is just a bit tacky (

Oooh i love those pink nails!
I’m keen to try stickers, trying time is always my downfall! And it will be a bonus if they don’t chip like my nailpolish always does!

French mani is such a classic, currently wearing a french mani shade but extra coats so its almost opaque and very soft and feminine. That said, my next colour will be a striking metallic turquoise I think:) Can’t wait to try out these lovelies! as soon as they hit the shelves!

Coveting those sally hansen strips. I’m yet to try the stick on nail art revolution, i guess I felt like it was cheating or it would look tacky. But I’m excited to try it after this article

Loving the hot pink nails in the pic. I’m a little excited for the release of Sally Hansens nail strips and really want to try out the zebra print. I can do nail art myself, but the zebra print never works out exactly how I want it!

Just tried the Sally Hansen nail polish strips yesterday – they are awesome!! Loving them sick right now, totally different than what I expected them to be – feels and smells like real nail polish and not like a ‘sticker’ at all – would highly reccomend them :)

    I’m nail polish OBSESSED !
My all time favourite colours are OPI yodel me on my cell, this amazing greeny blue and OPI diva of geneva a really pretty berry shade with tiny gold flecks.

I don’t really like OUT THERE, gem covered nails or anything, but I like shatter top coats and playing around with tape and polishes. Also not too keen on the traditional french mani, but what I think is really cool is having coloured tips instead of white.

you would have to be brave while wearing such bright colours… if it chipped, that would look awful
