Aussie Beauty Special 2013: How to: Pack a Beauty Beach Bag
Wed, 23 January 2013 5:41PM
Packing for a day at the beach or pool can be quite the task, especially if you’re planning to spend a whole day outdoors. Books, iPads, iPods, sunglasses and clothing aside, some of the most important items in your beach bag need to be beauty-related, or more specifically, suncare related.
Here are the products we’ve been adding to our beach bag so far this summer …
Nivea Sun Moisturising Sunscreen Lotion SPF50+, $17.99, Priceline
We were more than a little excited about the news of SPF50+ hitting our shores, and this new-to-shelves beauty from Nivea has come just at the right time. Currently providing the highest sun protection in Australia and New Zealand, the smooth formula not only keeps your skin hydrated, but also offers broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection to keep harmful rays at bay. Remember to continually top up throughout the day, ensuring that you concentrate on caring for each body zone.
Natio Moisturising Lip Balm SPF 30+, $4.95, Myer
I love this fragrance-free lip balm from Natio, enriched with vitamin E to keep your smackers smooth and supple, with the addition of aloe vera to help heal any dry or cracked skin. At $4.95, it’s more than a little bang for your beauty buck.
Wella Professionals SP Sun UV Spray, $32, 1300 885 002
We’re all pretty savvy when it comes to being sun-smart with our skin, but you need to take your hair into consideration, too. A wide-brimmed hat will definitely work wonders, but for when you’re out and about or in the water, you can protect your locks from harmful UVA/UVB rays by using a sun spray. Not only is it light enough to use on all hair types but you can throw it in your beach bag so you can continuously top up your sun protection throughout the day. Bonus points for the broad-spectrum protection.
CoffeeBerry Natureceuticals™ Natural Perfecting Minerals Foundation SPF15+, $70, 1800 808 993
There’s nothing worse than heading to the beach with a full face of makeup, however if you do feel more comfortable with a hint of coverage, then you should give these a try. Emily has raved about them in the past, but this mineral makeup builds up to a beautifully fresh finish and contains UV sun protection. Tip: just make sure you really buff them into your skin for a smooth, even skin tone. And for a side note, if you can’t live without mascara, try one of these waterproof options.
Evian Facial Spray, $18.95, 02 8709 8800
A facial spray is one of our beauty must-haves at the best of times, but particularly on hot summer days. We’ve recently been road-testing the Evian Facial Spray during the recent Sydney heatwave, and it goes straight to work, hydrating the skin and leaving it feeling cool and refreshed.
Clinique After Sun Rescue With Aloe, $39, Clinique
Nobody plans on getting burnt, but sometimes it does happen. Tsk tsk. We’ve all been there, but the best thing to do to keep your skin in check is to keep a tube of aloe vera nearby. I’ve always sworn by this one from Clinique, simply because it soothes hot skin – both face and body – and helps to prevent further sun damage.
As a side note, if you purchase two Clinique products, including one of the Sun, Self-Sun or City Block formulas from now until stocks last, you’ll get to choose between a Summer Duffle Bag or Hat for free! If you happen to buy a third item, you’ll receive both!*
Tell me, Primpers, what beauty products do you pack in your beach beauty bag?
Any of these?
Have you tried SPF50+ yet?

I’m not sure facial spray is a “must have”
but maybe I should get on the bandwagon. The natio lip balm looks good

I agree loopylexy, I don’t think it’s a must have either- though I spritz once or twice on my face to set my makeup every morning. Definitely trying the Clinque after-sun lotion next time I get burnt!

An absolute must have for me is aloe for sunburn as well as a good sunscreen, Loving the sound of 50+ now being in Australia

I’ll have to update my sunscreen now! I don’t remember the last time I was sunburnt, but that Clinique aloe looks great, as does the Natio lip balm.

My husband got a bit red on his face the other week, just sitting outside in a cafe for a few hours, I only had make up and moisturiser on (both have SPF) and didn’t get red at all.
The ASAP soothing gel really helped take his redness away.

How cute is the Clinique hat and bag! Love the Nivea sun! Have tried a lot of Natio products and loved but not their lip balm as yet, have not come across it before.

Even if I haven’t got burnt, if I’ve been out in the sun I still like to use an after sun product. Clinique After Sun Rescue With Aloe sounds great.

Love all these products you have suggested. I always have my sunscreen in my beach bag, as well as a book or magazine.

I want and need that Nivea Sun Moisturising Sunscreen Lotion SPF50+ in my bag immediately! I also always pack a massive bottle of water to keep me hydrated

I do not recommend the Wella Professionals SP Sun UV Spray. It makes my hair really greasy and lank even with only a few spritz’s. I threw it out. Hopeless. L’oreal make a brilliant hair SPF, much prefer that one as it you can’t feel it on your hair.

mmm that Evian spray sounds like heaven, must try it out!

Well for me a moisturiser with sunscreen is as important as brushing my teeth – I use Ultraceuticals (Australian made) Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF 30+. Its one of the best moisturisers I have found and a bonus – its all Aussie. Happy Australia Day Primpers

That bag looks beach perfect! I really want a hair protection spray for UV and the saltwater, i think it does alot of damage to my hair during summer.

I have a Lancome BB cream that is SPF50+ and I love it, I don’t find it any different to the SPF30+ really, but I am glad it isn’t harder to apply, I had visions of SPF50+ being as thick as toothpaste and leaving a white cast.
