Golden Globes Nicole Kidman’s side-swept chignon

Step one
Firstly, wash your hair with a smoothing shampoo and conditioner, especially if you’re prone to frizzy hair. This look is polished so don’t even give those frizzes a chance to come out and play. Sunsilk Silky Straight Shampoo, $4.49 is a perfect choice. Then, blow dry your hair using a round brush to help smooth and straighten the hair.

Step two
Once you’ve finished blow drying, create a deep side part. Gently sweep the hair over your ear and pin in place using bobby pins. Then, secure your hair in a low, side ponytail. You can do this using your hands or a brush, depending on how smooth you want the style to look.

Step three
Take a small section of hair from underneath the ponytail, and wrap it loosely around the hair tie. Secure with a bobby pin, ensuring the end of each section is exposed. This makes the style modern, natural, and a little more fun. Finish securing the rest of your hair like this until you’ve created the chignon.

Step four
Finally, tame any flyaways while keeping your chignon in place by using a light styling spray like Joico Joifix Medium Finishing Spray, $22.95. You still want to have a little bit of movement in your locks so steer clear of anything too heavy.

Going to a wedding on the weekend and copying this ‘do’ gave it a trial run during the week and was surprisingly easy to achieve.
