New York Fashion Week S/S ’12: Pamela Love’s cowgirl plaits
Tue, 13 September 2011 12:31PM
Yee-hah! Cowboy never looked so cool. It used to be that the country look was a little plain and scruffy, but at Pamela Love’s SS 12 show she’s turned it into a seriously high fashion look. I never pictured myself in a cowboy hat until now!
A little about the designer: Pamela Love is a jewellery designer whose work is free spirited, artistic and highly coveted. No surprises why. Her Spring/Summer 2012 collection took a turn towards refinement and polish, taking inspiration from Moroccan architecture’s shapes, tile work and traditions, but making it modern.
The hair was created by the team at Sebastian Professional, led by lead stylist and Sebastian Professional Global Design Team Artist, Antony Cole, who shared with us his tips for getting the look:
Step 1: Pump two doses of Sebastian Professional Potion 9, $48.50, throughout the hair from root to tip. This styling treatment restore’s your hair’s natural condition while leaving it manageable (and shiny) as you work it into a style.
Step 2: Follow with a heavy spritzing of Sebastian Professional Volupt Spray, $34. Blowdry your hair straight and smooth: a large round brush will help you out.
Step 3: Next Antony wrapped the models’ heads in a turban, but left a few pieces out at front for a carefree vibe. The ends were gathered into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck.
Step 4: Run Sebastian Professional Craft Clay, $36, through the ponytail to give your strands a matte texture, grip and hold. Create a fishtail braid and secure with a tie.
Step 5: Mess up the braid by pulling at the sides to get the pieces along the lengths to loosen.
Step 6: Finish off with Sebastian Professional Shaper Zero Gravity (400ml), $32, around the face and braid for a lightweight hold.

I’m sorry, I got distracted by the black line on their lips rather than the plaits.

they are soo cute plaits! very cowgirl
i think the lips are a bit odd but kinda work -is it meant to be a lip ring, or a black line through their lip?

LOL @ Karen’s comments.
I love the fishtail plait and wish I could pull it off!
That is a lot of product just for a plait, though, lol.

I love the look of the fishtail braid, but I’m growing out layers at the moment so hopefully I can try this look out as my hair gets longer.
Probably won’t be rocking the black line on my lip though ;P

I LOVE the fish tail braid, i can never get it right though so i have never actually worn it out anywhere as it never turns out looking like a plait at all :S

The braids are supercool and very wearable but as the other girls have mentioned it is very hard to see past that horrid black line painted on the lips in the first couple of shots…

I like this look, minus the black line in the middle of the bottom lip.
