Project Runway’s ‘70s boho hair
Thu, 18 August 2011 2:17PM
Boho needn’t be a beach-only look. You can totally rock this crazy curly boho vibe, from Project Runway Australia, on a cool winter’s day.
Just replace the headscarf with a beanie or woollen wrap and you are good to go. Well not quite, you need the curls to go with it. Read on for the how-to steps, courtesy of Goldwell Ambassador Craig Skeates from the John Morrey Salon in VIC, who created this look for the show.
Step 1: Centre part at the top of head to just before the crown. Spray hair lightly with Goldwell StyleSign Hot Form, $22.95, which is a heat protecting and styling lotion.
Step 2: Using large hot rollers, take medium sections of the hair and place the rollers at 2cm intervals. Starting on one side and repeating on the other (make sure you do the back section too). Hot tip: Don’t wrap the roots of your hair around the roller as you want the curls to start a little further down.
Step 3: Leave the rollers in until they cool, then take them out and throw your head upside down and rake your fingers through. Spray with Goldwell StyleSign Big Finish Volume Hairspray, $22.95, before flicking your head back.
Step 4: Smooth your hair down on top by raking your fingers from the centre part; this will help it sit flatter on top. Give your ‘do a good dosing with hairspray again.
Step 5: Finish with your headscarf, beanie or other.
Would you try this look in winter?

i like the curls but not enough to go to all the effort of actually having that style for myself… but would be good for a fancy dress!!

A bit too afro like for me, but works well on the run way!

Not a big fan of this look. Imagine how the hair will look once the bandana is removed. Looks way too contrived with the glasses.
