Miranda Kerr’s old Hollywood glamour look

Fri, 12 August 2011 2:19PM

Can you imagine walking down the street with this phenomenal makeup painted on your pretty face? Everyone (both boys and girls) will be doing a double take. This old Hollywood glamour look, with bold red lips and bouncy curls, will have you feeling fabulous and fearless instantly.

Let’s all take a second to stare at the beautiful Miranda Kerr at the David Jones Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Launch:

Miranda Kerr

This amazing look is complementary of David Jones Makeup Director, the man who needs no introduction, Napoleon Perdis. Between painting Miranda’s lips red and swirling a rosy blush on her cheeks we asked him to tell us how the heck we can get this look ourselves!

Miranda Kerr & Napoleon Perdis

Get the Look:

1. Prep skin with Napoleon Complex Skin Renewal Serum. It will give you a lovely illuminating effect from the get-go.

2. And of course you want this gorgeous look to stay in place all day, so you’ll need Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Primer.

3. Napoleon is a firm believer in applying mascara before anything else. It instantly brightens your face, and allows you to build from there. On Miranda he used Mesmer-eyes Mascara.

4. For a flawless complexion he sprayed Boudoir Mist Spray Foundation over her face.

5. Set (and also conceal and cover-up) your makeup with Camera Finish Powder Foundation.

6. Using Mozaic Bronzing Powder below the cheek bone, Mosaic Gleamer above the cheekbone and, to brighten up a neutral face, Mosaic Blushing Powder along the cheekbone, your face will be contoured in all the right places.

7. Going for natural but slightly tamed brows, apply light strokes of Precision Brow Pencil over any gaps.

8. Define the eyes with Prismatic Eye Shadow Quad #5, then smudge China Doll Gel Liner in Earth close to the upper lash line.

9. Line the inner rim of your eyes with a white liner, like China Doll Gel Liner in Alabaster.

10. Add your second coat of mascara now. This time Napoleon used  Lash Patrol 747.

11. The show-stopper, the red lips, were created with Double Agent Rouge, a velvety-textured, strong red lip followed by a lip liner.

Phew! Who said pretty was easy? Actually, it kinda is. Give it a go yourself and let us know how you went!

Are you game enough to give this look a go?

What’s your go-to red lipstick?

Miranda looks so radiant and gorgeous here. I’m not sure if I’m game to use a red lippie like hers, but will be visiting the NP counter at DJs soon to look at the new range of red lipsticks and to see which shade suits me…..I’ll take the 12min test!

I will try but I will never have her face, sigh :P
I love red lippie but I haven’t found the perfect one yet.
I’m a little confused at Napoleon putting mascara on first, isn’t it hard to get in there and do pencil when they’re all up? WOn’t you muss them up? Also confused about the lipliner after lippie.

I absolutely LOVE Miranda! She is so naturally gorgeous you just can’t go past her! I love this look on her and I can’t wait to try it out for myself! My go-to red lipstick is definitely Revlon’s Colour Burst in True Red! Absolute winner! :)

    this look is perfection!

love everything about this look, her hair is perfect for the look too (and the very subtly highlights in her hair works well too)…

wish i could pull off such a great red lip as well as this!

Miranda Kerr is divine and this look is simple and elegant. Love it. And will most definitely be replicating it!

Definitely, as long as you have the right shade of red lippy to suit your skin tone, the sky’s the limit. I have one red lipstick from Maybelline called Royal Red that i use for special occasions.

she is sooooooooooo beautiful, dewy and gorgeous. lucky her.

A red lip suits her really well! She looks so pretty and her hair is just perfect.

  • Posted by: niblet Enthusiast // Mon, 15 August 2011 09:52am

I will definitely give it a go, but alas, no matter how well I do it, I will never look like Miranda Kerr!
Also confused by the lip liner AFTER lipstick??? Of course, if Napolean Perdis says jump, I will say how high! But wondering what the reason behind this is…
Also would love some tips on how to get that hair oooh :)

i love a red lip, but you have to have flawless skin, or it just looks awful! Gwen Stefani rocks a red lip better than anyone else. I think the white skin, light hair makes the red POP!

  • Posted by: georgiamae83 Devotee // Mon, 15 August 2011 03:28pm

If i knew I could look as good as Gwen Stefani with white blonde hair and a bold lip i’d do it.
    I devour the bold lip!

Miranda looks even more beautiful these days.

I love this shade of red by Napoleon. I have a few red lipsticks and may add Double Agent Rouge to my collection.

Miranda proves life is unfair by always looking 100%. But the tips are fabulous.

    Miranda is a glamour diva.

I just did my own version of the red lip last night as an experiment and mine came up a treat!
First used Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain in Flame all over my lips. Then over that, I used Avon Colour Intense in Kimono. For super full lips, make sure you use a lip brush to extend the lipstick just outside your natural lip line. You can stop here if you want a matte-ish finish like Miranda’s, but I like gloss so I used L’Oreal Infallible Plumping Lipgloss in Plumped Red on the centre of both the upper and lower lips. Voila!

Oops! My bad! I’d used Nutrimetics Colour Intense lipstick, not Avon. Haha!

She’s an absolute stunner.. I would love to rock this look, but I’m still a little shy of a red lip as it always reminds me of my grandma.
