Making Over Mid-Length Brown Hair

Tue, 7 August 2012 10:44AM

I have thick, naturally dark brown hair which I recently cut to shoulder length. I’m super-bored and after a change. Do you have any suggestions?

Sure do! We love playing hairstylist here at PRIMPED. So my first thought is to suggest a fringe. That’s because there’s so much you can do with one that you’ll never get bored (or won’t for a very long time). Either cut it heavy and blunt, and style your hair super-straight for a Scarface-inspired look, like the ‘do that Rose Byrne has red-carpeted so fabulously in recent times. You could alternatively go for a sweet side fringe, as seen on Jessica Biel lately – this type of fringe looks particularly great if your hair is long enough to wear back in a little twist or pony. If, however, you like to wear your hair out, and also textured, the best bangs for you are probably curtain-style, as seen here on Alexa Chung:

Speaking of Alexa Chung, do a Google Images search on her for some more hair-spiration. She has naturally dark brown hair, like you, and has always had some variation on a shoulder-length style, so you could probably find some great looks to try. As well as colour. While Alexa doesn’t go too extreme, she has flitted from glossy all-over chocolate to a more sun-kissed effect, thanks to blonde streaked being balayaged through the ends.

    Prefer Rose’s colour and style.

Not really a fan of this tyle… it’s just messy and a little unkempt.
