How to: Anne V’s Party-Perfect Super-Straight Strands

Get a load of that smile, would you Primpers? There’s one lady extremely happy with how she looks. And so would we, if we were sporting Anne V’s long, lush straight hair, pop of creamy apricot lipstick, and a luminous, bronzed complexion. Wanna try it at home? Us, too. Victoria’s Secret figure not included, unfortunately …

STRAIGHT HAIR: Straightened hair can go two ways: stringy or, like Anne’s, swishy. To go in the right direction (uh, that would be swishy!), here’s what you should do … Wash your hair, and apply your heat protector. Roughly blow-dry your hair until almost dry and, for extra volume, dry it upside down. When you flip back upright, separate your hair into a middle part and then again into three sections, so you’ve got a base, middle and top tier. Start at the base, and work in two-inch sections (this tip is crucial, Primpers! Because if you go any thicker, you won’t get the same impact). Now, let’s get swishing… Instead of holding your tool on a horizontal angle and dragging it straight out, bring it around to the front of your face, as though you are wrapping it around. Continue to do this as you straighten your hair. When you reach the top section, ensure that you have a perfect middle part, and then get back to straightening. To finish, add a hint ghd Final Shine Spray, $20, ghd, to smooth any flyaways and give you an instant hit of shine.

BRONZED SKIN: We might not all be up for baring our midriff or our legs this summer, but if you do plan on it, nothing screams party season like gleaming golden limbs à la Anne.

Try a lightweight cream tanner like Le Tan Fast Tan Self Tanning Lotion, $12.99, Priceline, and apply it using a mitt the night before your event. Head to bed (and make sure you sleep on dark sheets!) When you wake up, have a shower, which will wash off any excess. The result? A smooth, streak-free tan. Before you hit the town, add a little liquid illuminator to your shin bone – it works a treat to lengthen the appearance of your limbs while also giving them a beautiful glowy sheen.

PEACHY CHEEKS: Once you’ve got the tan down pat, you want to ensure that you’ve also warmed up your complexion, but not so much that you look like you’ve stepped straight out of the tanning booth. After you have applied a lightweight base, like Red Earth Sheer Canvas Moisturising BB Cream, $28, Red Earth, sweep on your bronzer under your cheekbones up towards your temples, then swirl a peach-coloured blush on the apples of your cheeks.

CREAMY LIPS: When choosing your peachy-hued lippie remember that you want to ensure your lipstick formulation is creamy – a dry pale lip is never a good thing. It’s also important to make sure your lips are in tip-top shape, so either apply a balm first, or try a lip primer to create a smooth, even base. Apply your lipstick – we like M.A.C Cosmetics Lipstick in Crème d’Nude, $36, M.A.C Cosmetics, in light coats to begin with, and then gradually build it up until you reach your desired intensity. Add a touch of clear gloss in the centre of your cupid’s bow to amp up the shine factor and give you a fuller-looking pout.

WATERLINED EYES: Start with a soft dove grey eyeshadow and apply it over your lid. Then, to achieve that subtle smokiness, pick up a slightly darker shade of grey and blend it into the outer corners and through the crease of your lids. Next, take a black kohl liner, like Nars Cosmetics Eye Liner in Black Moon, $36, Mecca Cosmetica, and etch along your upper inner rims and lower lash line. Some of the eyeliner will transfer to your lower waterline, so you can whisk it away using a cotton tip, but don’t worry too much about it smudging; it will actually contribute to the sultry effect of the eye makeup.

Tell me, Primpers, do you like Anne’s look here?

I love the creamy orange lipstick, it’s a little more alive than a beige nude.
