PRIMPED Poll: How Many Lip Products Do You Carry Around in Your Handbag?
Tue, 20 November 2012 11:50AM
You might remember a few weeks back I was talking about the amount of lip products that I was playing with at work, carrying around in my handbag, and inside my little makeup case. At last count, it was 24 lip products on my desk, but as for those floating around in my handbag? The number rose from 7 to 10 in just a few short weeks.
Hey, there have been a lot of new releases lately!
So, I feel totally justified in my reasoning for why each product deserves its spot:
- Bold, matte lipstick in a few colours, depending on my mood and outfit. I’m currently alternating between Burberry’s Lip Velvet in Military Red, $50, department stores, and ck one color Pure Color Lipstick in Wow, $35, Myer.
- Balm for all day, everyday. I’ll come back to this one.
- A stain. I’m currently loving Clinique’s Chubby Stick in Pudgy Peony, $35, department stores and Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains in Sweetheart, $17.95, Priceline.
And speaking of lip products, I’ve just tallied the results on our PRIMPED Poll.
Here was the poll in question:
How many lip products do you have in your handbag on a day-to-day basis?
- Between three to four products: 51%
- Only what I need for the day: 38%
- None: 7%
- My entire lip collection!: 5%
So it seems like the majority of you agree with me, or at least, uh, are a little closer to my tally than the rest. Although I can’t help but love the Primpers who carry around their entire lip collection – how on earth do you fit anything else in your bag? I’d just have a handbag of lip products if I did that!
Those who don’t carry any products around with you, is that because you’ve found a fabulous product to apply in the morning that lasts? Or is it because you don’t feel the need to reapply throughout the day? Please do share in the comments section.
I am, however, über-impressed with those of you who only have what you need for the day. With that 38% of you in mind, I set out on the weekend, taking a page out of your beauty book by taking just ONE product with me for the day. I had a breakfast date, a shopping trip and with a dance practice, and I managed to make it through with the aforementioned product and my go-to balm – Lanolips Lemonaid Lip Aid, $15.95, Priceline, one of the beauty buys you will always find in my handbag, no matter what.
For longtime fans of Lanolips, you probably remember this product from around two years ago, when it was a limited edition. Thankfully, it’s become a staple member of the Lanolips family, and I for one am over the moon because I was beginning to squeeze my last tube to within an inch of its life. Not only is it glide on silky smooth and is thoroughly moisturizing (it contains 70% medical-grade lanolin, after all), banishing dry lips for good, it also has subtle lemon scent thanks to the inclusion of organic lemon oil. Not only does it provide the perfect balance of lemony goodness to make it refreshing and sweet, the citric acid works to naturally exfoliate your lips, so you can say bye-bye to flaking.
Better still, as opposed to balms, you don’t need to constantly reapply because it lasts. And lasts. Wear it over lipstick, over lipstick or on its own, and I can promise you it will become your permanent staple, too.
However when it came to Saturday night, I had a birthday on and almost felt naked without a bold lip colour. So sorry, Primpers, I cheated, because I just had to apply my favourite orange-red shade – Napoleon Perdis DéVine Goddess Lipstick in Hara, $24, Napoleon Perdis. It’s a burnt-orange, red matte colour which is just bright enough without veering into neon territory. If you want to see it in the flesh, I wore it in this video.
But the reason I had to wear it, more than any colour in my ever-growing lip collection, was because the clever NP has created a lip pencil, the new Lip Pencil in Perfect Poppy, $28, that goes hand in hand with Hara, which is quite the feat, let me tell you – I’ve been trying to match it for yonks. Not only does using the lip pencil prevent feathering and bleeding, but it also gives you a sleek and defined lip finish.
C’mon Primpers, fess up! How many lip products do you carry around in your handbag?
What is your must-have, can’t live without lip product?
Have you tried Lanolips Lemonaid or Hara?
