Taylor Swift reminds me why lip stains are ridiculously awesome

Oh, Taylor Swift, I’m more than a little fond of you right now. You did, of course, blow me (and Zo and Yaz) away when you finally mixed things up a little and rocked up to the American Music Awards with a fringe and straight hair. You looked absolutely amazing. We’re not saying your usual combo of vintage-style ringlets and winged eye liner isn’t ace. No way. We just know other styles look awesome on you, too.
The reason we’re chatting today is not because you’ve signed another fragrance deal, or you’ve stepped out with sexy straight locks again, I actually wanted to say thank you. Yes, I’m thanking you. You see, I was scouring the net and stumbled across your Allure cover photo shoot video. I watched it, of course, and enjoyed your cute accent and your behind-the-scenes tour guide abilities.
I’m even pasting it here so everyone else can watch:
But the reason why I wanted to say thank you is because you reminded me in this very vid that lip stains are brilliant. You use them onstage instead of a gloss because it means your hair doesn’t get stuck in your lips, and I think that is a remarkable idea. You are a smart girl, Tayls. In fact, I wish I had thought of that last Saturday night when I was dancing up a storm on the d-floor of some club, only to find myself constantly eating a stringy mouthful of hair, all care of my darn lip gloss.
I love lip glosses, I really do. And I always will, in fact. But for the time being, I’m going to crank out my favourite lip stains and give them some airtime. Yes, I’m not onstage performing like you (or on a d-floor all the time), but old mate Mr Spring – soon to be Mr Summer come tomorrow – has been known to get a little wild and windy, which means the possibility of having hair stuck to my lips is now at an all-time high.
I don’t know which ones you use, Tayls, but these are the ones I love, and I suggest you try them out, too. And until we chat again, stay cute, stay away from naughty boys and keep mixing things up in the beauty department, because we absolutely LOVE it when you do.
Legendary Lip Stain No. 1: The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain, $23.95
I love this one for its…lovely rich colour. It’s great on the lips and cheeks, and gives your skin a healthy glow. (Yep, even at 5.00pm when you’re feeling like arse.)
Legendary Lip Stain No. 2: Benefit Benetint, $55
I love this one for its…ability to stay-put. It’s also a handbag staple. I never leave home without it. (Or her sister.) The colour is very girlie like me, and I adore the little brush applicator.
Legendary Lip Stain No. 3: Stila Raspberry Crush Lip and Cheek Stain, $52
I love this one for its…wonderful colour. The vibrant pink hue is very cute, and this one even has a subtle shimmer to it. Very pretty indeed.
PS. Tayls, Yaz also loves this Revlon one, but I’ll let her tell you all about its goodness.
Do you wear lip stains?
Have you used any of my favourites?
Did you enjoy Taylor’s little vid? She’s such a sweet treat.
