The Knockout Hair & Makeup Looks From The Cannes Film Festival That You Need To Know About
Tue, 29 May 2012 8:31AM
With the celebs already fast-tracking it out of the South of France faster than they can say croissant, we thought it was about time we did a mini wrap up to celebrate those who went above and beyond the call of duty to razzle dazzle us with some of the finest hair and makeup choices known to Cannes.
For anyone who works in the beauty or fashion biz, the Cannes Film Festival is one of the biggest highlights on the social calendar and for good reason. Celebrity stylists spend months working with designers to co-ordinate their client’s outfits and gowns, while only the best hair and makeup artists from the globe are called upon to finish off the looks.
Here are a few treat-sized beauty bites from the festival that I strongly suggest you print out and pin on your beauty board right about now…
1. Best All-Rounder: Diane Kruger.
From old-Hollywood style waves to a neat top bun, smoky eye and nude lip, there wasn’t a hair or makeup look on this beauty that we didn’t like. Call us biased, but she just seems to keep getting more stylish by the minute, no?
2. Most Outstanding Beauty: Natasha Poly.
Technically, she’s not an actress, she’s a model, but what she lacks in method acting skills, she sure made up for in the makeup department sporting the most outstanding smoky eye one day, followed by the glossiest of glossy red lips the next.
4. Best use of a hair accessory: Kirsten Dunst and Marrione Cottilard
There’s no denying that hair accessories are a tricky trend to pull off, but pick the right one, like these ladies, and they add just the right amount of sweet and quirky to any ‘do. I suggest you hightail it to Lincraft and get thee a hot glue gun and some tiny fake flowers, like, yesterday.
4. Best Performing Nail Colour: Red.
Sorry nail art, red lacquer is back. And you want race car red, not jaffa-red like last season. The other major trend we noticed was the return to the matching lip and nail combo, but if duo’s aren’t your thing, just keep piling on the shiny top coat and you can’t go wrong. Speaking of trending, ruby and emerald green jewels were also all the range. Think real ’80s Dynasty and you get the pretty picture.
Who was your favourite celeb from the festival?
