Video: The Week in Beauty: Benefit Fine One One, BB Creams, the Dermalogica Price Drop and More!

Fri, 8 February 2013 2:22PM

We’ve been gearing up for the kick-off of New York Fashion Week – one of our favourite times of the year, Primpers. And that’s not just because of the fabulous runway fashion and backstage beauty (although that helps) – we love snooping the best hair and makeup looks from the front row and about town, too. And you’ve also probably noticed, we’ve been getting in the mood for the upcoming Valentine’s Day celebrations, talking date-night beauty buys, nail art and more!

Check out all the week’s highlights in my video here:

Beauty Highlight #1: I’ve long been turning to BB creams for a fresh, lightweight base, particularly for days when I don’t want or need to wear a full foundation base. One of my new favourites is Maybelline New York Fresh Glow BB Cream, $15.95, which I’m actually wearing in the video. It has a soft, gel-like feel to it, and when smoothed onto your skin it gives a really fresh, and natural glow – funny that! It comes in three shades, and is available now – click here to read my full review.

Beauty Highlight #2: I talked about the new Benefit Fine One One, $44, Myer, yesterday over at the Beauty Counter blog, and many of you asked to see what the colour and application was like IRL. The wind-up highlighter has three colours, Sheer Coral, Watermelon and Pink Champagne Highlighter, to achieve a beautiful illuminated finish. You can read all about it here, but make sure you check out the video to see it in the flesh. Literally.

Beauty Highlight #3: For beauty news update, as of February 1, there is now a price drop of 20% across the entire range of Dermalogica products in Australia! Wheee! The price reduction came about to protect consumers from purchasing products from unauthorised stockists, which was potentially putting them at risk of forming reactions to beauty buys that were out-of-date or faulty. For your closest Dermalogica stockist, call 1800 659 118.

Beauty Highlight #4: My number one celebrity beauty look of the week was Julianne Hough at the premiere of Safe Haven. She’s one of our big beauty crushes here at PRIMPED, and we loved that her makeup was inspired by her gorgeous gold Alberta Ferretti dress, paired with the fresh, glowy skin and sparkling eyeshadow. It was only bettered by those fabulous bold brows.

Beauty Highlight #5: You may remember seeing a picture of me looking rather excited with a set of the re-formulated Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure, $14.95, Priceline, earlier in the week, and we’ve been busy testing the new formula with amazing results. In the video, I’m wearing my favourite watermelon shade – Frutti Petutie. Perfect for the girl on the go, they have a long-lasting formula and contain a base and top coat for a quick, fuss-free nail painting session. You can read all about them here, but also don’t forget to enter our latest PRIMPED #primpedmylook Instagram competition, where you can win six of the new shades!

Tell me, Primpers, what was your highlight of the week on PRIMPED?

Was there a product you plan to try?

Any exciting plans for the weekend?

The Benefit Fine One One does not disappoint on video! It looks amazing! I also love how the Sally Hansen nail colour looks exactly the same on your nails as it does in the bottle. I think Julianne Hough’s look was my favourite look of the week/month/year so far!

Brilliant news that Dermalogica have dropped their prices, I cannot live without their skinperfect primer but it is pricey! So relieved that it’s more affordable now :)
